Teknetics Omega GB from All Metal to Discriminate?

I had an Omega a few years ago = my ground here in North Central Texas is fairly mild and proper GB didn't seem to be an issue --but always tried to keep the GB properly set anyway-for the "max performance" i was under the impression that when done the "Ground Grab" in the All Metal mode that it carried over to the Disc Mode . In watching a couple of You tube videos -i am not sure it does -seems to be a Preset or maybe the Disc Mode uses a differant GB circuit from the Ground Grab All Metal . In one 1964Relic you tube video (Keith Southern) does a ground balancing and depth test (mineralized ground)--elaborates that doing the Disc mode GB is maybe a differant GB circuit --the ground monitor seem to for ALL Metal only . In reading the manual (pulled up on line ) seems vague - i had a Time Ranger about 10 years ago and i thought the GB carried from All Metal to Disc = in reading the manual carefully i found tha one line sentence --Ground Balance in ALL metal only -- Discriminates uses a Preset . The only reason i am really care is that i am considering the new 8500 that will be coming out soon -and its manual(its already on line ) seems vague (for me anyway) if the GB is for both or ?

Well it lets u know on the screen if you need to rebalance the omega. It does this in the discriminate mode. You can also make the changes manually to tweak it if you wish. So why would it track the changes in disc mode if the ground balance in all metal would not carry over???

Keith Southern's you tube video shows the ground " readout" does work in All metal and Disc but he runs the GS seting from 0 to Max in Disc --Omega gives no ground feedback- (he makes costructive comments on this) --like a F19 , F75 or G2 does(its stated plainly in their manual the GB carries from All Metal to Disc ) - again the Omega 8000 manual and the new 8500 is vague -i dont want to shell out several hundred bucks and not know for sure ---just going by the video looks like its a fixed GB in Disc

I've seen that video too. Keith sets the GB way off and then demonstrates that the machine will give ground feedback in all metal, but not in disc mode. Maybe Dave J could explain this one.

The ground balance value on the Omega is used in all metals, discriminate, and pinpoint modes. (Unlike many older all-analog or mostly-analog metal detectors.)
