Howdy. I'm new here. I'm considering purchasing either a T2 or G2 to compliment my White's MXT Pro. I live and hunt in the Shenandoah Valley and mostly hunt farm fields near CW battlefields. I also hunt old (colonial and CW era) home sites. What do y'all think? Anyone own both an MXT and a Teknetics? How do they compare?

Thanks!

Old Virginia, welcome to the forum. Lots of good info here. I currently own a G-2 and mainly use it for relic hunting. I find the G-2 and the reuglar MXT to be both excellent machines.. If you are planning on keeping the MXT-Pro, then I would not purchase the G-2 since they are so compariable. I would save your money towards the T-2, which is maybe a better relic hunter. Txquest

Old Virginia, welcome! I know you will find a lot of information on this forum and some truly terrific folks willing and happy to share about their detectors. I own a T2. One of my regular detecting buddies owns the MXT and from his experiences and my own it is a terrific detector. I do not own, nor have I used, the G2 but speaking for the T2, it is outstanding, it is light weight, searches deep, has a very long battery life and is very easy to use and get used to. The light weight is especially helpful when the weather is warm, you can swing the detector all day and not get tired. I have heard nothing but good things about the G2 so it may be a personal choice between the two. I hunt up here in Northern Virginia, but have been down in the Charlottesville area, which may not be far from you, at the invitation of a couple of friends and enjoyed the detecting there immensely. My T2 worked great in the soils in the area as it does up here between Centreville, Winchester, Fairfax, and Brandy Station. Whichever detector you buy, come back to the forum for discussions and advice about it. Good hunting!

The G2 is VERY quiet compared to the MXT. It has dual processors and extremely fast recovery which makes it awesome in heavy iron. Never used the MXT pro but owned a MXT. Good machine but the G2 seems to hit gold as good or better but coins for sure better. Holler at me if you have more questions or need great pricing. Thanks, Bart

Now, if you purchase from a forum dealer, which you should. They are as competitively priced as anyone. Make sure to get the 5" DD coil for the T2. The little bugger is awesome in high trash areas, with fantastic depth for a coil that size. Bart..........make him a good deal on it........lol:)

here in ohio the t2se is alot better in many ways over mxt pro...battery life is alot better...its a deeper machine on everything. very very good coin hunter. very accurate id. many more ways to set up and hunt. its lighter and very well balanced. alot better in trashy areas.. so much better i sold my mxt pro and all my other machines.
