Tektites

Alan

New member
Just a bit more on tektites.
They are quite common in the West Australian goldfields. A meteorite hit Cambodia and sent debris up into space and it fell back to earth as tektites.
They are easy to spot on salt lakes as they stand out against the white background.
They aren't worth much but are something to look out for when beeping. They are light for there size and tend to wash up in claypans after rain. They look a bit like roo poo witch tends to wash up in the same places.
So if I think I see a tektite I step on it. If it crushes and is green on the inside its poo. If it stays firm I pick it up for further investigation.

Thanks for sharing Alan. I'll start to keep my eyes open when out on those dry lake beds.
