Tell me what you think

i use the whites surf PI pro, it's a great machine, but the main reason i brought it was i like to buy well proven machines these days, that have had any problems sorted. if i was buying again tomorrow i would probably get the dual field, as my digging partner has one and it has a edge on the pi pro, he also has the minelab sovereign, but uses the pulse after the locals have worked out the Beach's with there VLF. the one think i have noticed using the PI on areas well hit by the minelabs, is the UK's smallest coin is the cupro nickel five pence at 17mm. the pulse seems to find lots of these missed by the VLF but always deep. the drawback is i am also digging lots of small odd shaped iron that the minelabs reject

this is one of my favourite test pieces, the PI gets it better than any vlf i try it with. but try testing gold rings with a break in them to really see what advantage a PI gives you

I started with a PI PRO from Whites about 4 years ago... I hunted with it for 3 years then wanted to try the Excal to see what everyone was raving about... I put a straight shaft on it I didn't like it in the water... good machine but not as deep as my PI... I saved it for the wet sand and dry stuff... after a while I sold the Excal because I am a water hunter with a little wet sand thrown in... no dry stuff... I have since purchased a GT which I will not sell as I love it but it will only be used in iron infested area's... you will not regret a PI if you take the time to learn how to use it properly... it takes patience and many don't have it... all my hunting partners 3 of them use PI's I now swing the Dual Field and its my main detector...

If you decide on a PI buy Clives book Pulse Power its a keeper :)

Why a PI......I Had a opportunity to walk behind 2 guys with a Excls they were about 50-60 yards in front of me. I dug a small sliver neckless pencil lead size Dia. and a small sliver ring size 5 ( fits my wife's pinkey). I know they could have just missed them but they were 2-3 scoops deep in the wet sand .I use a 10in scoop. That didn't even count the Penny's and nickles I dug. I don't think they didn't put there coil over any of them. My thoughts

IF IT AINT A PI IT DON'T GO TO THE BEACH WITH ME :detecting:

michael....aka fieldboy

I have used a Whites PI for 20 plus years , it needed no repairs in that time and has paid for all my other detectors wth the finds. I gave it to my son who is still using it.

I am going to get the duel field. Just remember your coil has to pass over the target to even have a chance of finding it so be leery of people saying they went behind someone else and found what ever because of the machine they were using , there are to many variables to say it was just the different machine..

get a decent Pi to go with your minelab, and you have all the bases covered, only problem is making the right machine selection to suit the conditions on the day. most of my mates use both minelabs and PI's and we often compare results on the way home just to see who got it right. ironic thing is the best ring I've seen dug from the beach in the last few years was found by a bloke using a $70 dollar detector on the dry sand. he was only digging the dry because the machine would not work on the wet sand. even with the best equipment you cant beat a bit of luck!

Ok folks here we go. I have a Whites PI Dual Field and it is a digging madman. I was wondering has anyone tried this machine in fresh water or am I looking for trouble with no dis. I dig all at the beaches so why not lakes and ponds any feedback appreciated.

Butch........

The problem with freshwater hunting with a PI is nails do not breakdown like they would in saltwater... but by all means feel free to give it a try... I do but I'm loco :)

Well going to give it a shot tomorrow in the am I'll let you know the outcome good I hope .
