Holy crap! Get home and get typing. I can't wait to hear the details on this hunt!

OK, I'm back. I woke up real early morning and I didn't get much sleep last night. If it weren't for this rare cool weather and wet soft ground this time of year, I would have passed on today's hunt. I did a few posts and rubbed my Genie really good and wished that I'd find something really nice today at the new site that I found yesterday. I arrived at the site a few minutes before daybreak and found the grass at the specific area that I wanted to detect was way too tall. I gave it few swings anyway and dug a few junk targets. All I was accomplishing was getting muddy and wet from the dew. Also my Cibola was acting up. I couldn't get it to calm down no matter how low I set the discrimination when it was in the all metal mode to ground balance. Once I flipped over to the discriminate mode all was quiet except that the target audio response was a little off. It was not as smooth sounding as it normally is. It was kind of frustrating but I made do. I moved from the tall wet grass up to a grassy knoll where the grass was dryer and shorter, because it had some tree cover. I started my grid search of the area that was about the size of a two car garage. I couldn't really tell because of the low morning light, but I dug what I thought was a wheat penny. The next audio signal that I got sounded pretty good. I popped a 1945 Mercury Dime. The morning light was still low and my camera was set on auto flash so it flashed. I had to turn the flash off to get a decent picture. The next few targets were junk. I had the area gridded going one direction, so decided to go at it at another direction. About the second pass I got a halfway decent audio signal and dug down just a few inches and popped what looked like some kind of foreign silver coin. I couldn't really tell, so I put in the coin water bottle and finished up with my grid search of the knoll and moved down a ways to another location. I found a silver earring, a bunch of clad, and a few wheat pennies (1920, 1955, 1920, 1957, 1945). I had 3 silvers and I thought that a forth one would be nice since it's the 4th of July. I tried really hard, but I reached the point where I was not enjoying myself so I decided to call it a day. I'm not sure, but I think the coin is 1806 Spanish Reale. How it got there I haven't clue. I found a 1/2 Spanish Reale awhile back while detecting with Jim. He said that was once in a lifetime time find for around here. I guess my Genie is doing her magic helping me find yet another Spanish Reale.:)

That is a stunning find, its the way you methodically detect that gives you the results and the full understanding of what your detector is telling you.

Very well done

Now that is abnormal, out of the way, and way over the top , early bird gets the spanish coin, finding something like that would not be good for my health, i may have a heart attack,

That is one wonderful find Tab. You just never know what that next target is going to be.......and, good ones can come from some strange places. Good hunt! HH jim tn

Tabman, that area sounds like a good place for the Tejon!

What a great 4th of July find!

Now all you have to do to keep your hot streak going is to march around the front yard wearing nothing but underwear and cowboy boots singing "Im a Yankee Doodle Dandy" at the top of your voice, waving a sparkler around in each hand!
Since I dont have a magic Genie, Thats what I'm fixin to do as soon as it gets dark enough to put on a good show!

tabman...

Nice job on the Reale, that spot is worth another hunt.

Hey mud, be sure to post pictures of the underwear dance!

way to go

Ok, well, this just ain't right, what with Tabman hoarding all of the Jeannie the Genie's luck and magic. We want it now... Who's with me?! Let's get him!! :chase:

Seriously my friend, that is a legendary morning. Congratulations once again on great finds and searching smart! :please:

You're welcome. It's about time someone else grabs the baton and run with it for awhile, I'm about wore out. :)

That is so cool. I found a half one last year with that same pug nosed face. It was a 179? much more worn than this one.
