Has anyone used the cortez? How many tones does It have ? Good on dry salt beaches?

I owned the Cortez. It has one tone but also has a spring loaded toggle switch that can be activated called "Sum" mode that has multiple tones to help identify your target. Not sure about salt water beaches. It can only be ground balanced in the all metal mode which doesn't transfer over to the disc mode. The target Id was really bouncy and inaccurate on my Cortez. Was a nice and deep machine though and had the typical Tesoro build quality and warranty.

Thanks maybe tejon or vaquero would suit the beach better.

Yes, I would imagine something with an adjustable ground balance would work better.
