Tesoro Eldorado Finds Me My First Indian Head Penny:tesoro::usaflag:

I went to the woods today with a hunting buddy, Chris, to try find some silver coins. We meet another hunting buddy, Jim TN, as he was leaving. Jim found a silver quarter, but that's not usual for him. At any rate, no silver for me, but I did score a Indian Head Penny , 3 tokens, some old bullets, a horseshoe and a coin that I haven't identified yet. I ran the sensitivity at '10', the threshold at the 3:00 o'clock position, and the discrimination on 'iron'. Most of the targets were shallow with the Indian Head Penny being around 3 inches deep. It sounded like a screw cap. I'm glad that I didn't pass it by.:) Chris found a 1920 wheat penny at 7 inches deep.

Thanks. It looks to be in very good shape. I have it soaking in some olive oil.

I use a soft nylon bristled brush, soap and water, and I use a wooden toothpick to clean around the date and letters, after it's clean I use some paste wax to seal it.

The soft nylon bristled brush, soap and water worked wonders. Thanks Hombre.

You're welcome tabman,

I've found over a hundred of them little injuns in past 18 years and most of them don't look as good as yours, looks like a VF 20 when dropped !'

PS: most of mine were way too cruddy to mess with cleaning because of soil conditions (plowed farm land)......the really nice ones were found in old house yards:thumbup:

Most dug IH pennies don't look as good as this one. Nice find.

Really nice find, congrats!

One of my favorite coins. Found my first with a Silver Sabre umax. A 1906 in good condition.

Sure cleaned up really nice! Looks like an XF+ graded coin you got there.

That is one nice looking Indian Tabman. I am still on the search for my first Indian. I just need to find some older sites to hunt. I hope you find some more. I know if I ever visit Tennessee and come to ground with no signals I will have found a spot you and Jim have hunted. Lol. HH

ohhh that is a NICE ONE, good cleaning job

Thanks everyone. I'm just tickled pink that my first Indian Head was in such great condition. I'm now dialed in on a Barber Dime.

I really enjoy finding old coins. However, finding a big gold ring is equally as exciting to me.

A Tesoro detector and a sports field = GOLD jewelry if you keep the discrimination set low and you don't mind digging a bunch of tabs.:)
