Tesoro Golden Sabre II question

Hoping that someone out there may be able to answer my question.....
Would a uMax 9X8 work on the unit? (12kHz) I Just added the GSII to my 'Oldies' collection and want to get a bit of punch out of it! tried super tuning but...
not that the 8" coil is a slouch... but doesn't seem to have the Vaq. power!... any ideas ? Any tried a 12X10?
...thanks...

It will work just fine on it.Set your dis to min and notch at min and your notch off and it will run alot smoother and deeper.I have had one since 1994 and it is not for sale.

Thanks Pulltaber. I will give that a try... I always liked the 8" and maybe with this new idea I will get the extra depth. I think I will like it... just need a couple of hours and practice!
We are just into spring breakup here, and the ground is still a bit 'hard'! Air tests I guess.
Did you find much difference on depth with the 9X8 coil over the 8", or vice versa...or no diff?

There is not much difference in depth with the 9x8" and the 8".If you are hunting in the weeds and and rocky areas the spooked coil will get hung up more than the solid coil.On a dime you should be getting between 7" and 8" deep with either coil.At the settings above you will get a nice high tone on coins and gold rings and a broken or low high sound on iron, foil and most odd shaped trash.

Testing tonight and found you to be correct on the sounds and depth as per settings.
It gets me a good 7" with my wooden ruler and coin in the test plot!
Thanks again.. tomorrow I try a few other things!
