Tesoro Golden

I went back to the basketball courts today to see if I could find a gold ring. None to be found, but I did manage to find 3 pieces of silver and 173 coins.

Digging close to 250 targets sent me home early. I was wore slap dab out.

I had the Golden

Very nice, very effective.

Yes it is. The Golden will find coins and silver rings like crazy. It really excels at finding gold jewelry.

Way to go Tabman awesome hunt! You are getting me excited for my new Golden. Speaking of coils how does the Golden do with the stock coil. When I have some time on the Golden which coil should I be watching for the 8", 5.75 or the clean sweep?

You're going to absolutely love the Golden if you take the time to learn how to use it.

Remember, the key to unlocking the power of the Golden is its notch width control knob with the notch switch in the off position and minimum discrimination.

Yes, get all 3 coils. :) The 9 x 8 coil works just fine, but I prefer the 8 inch doughnut coil. The 5.75 concentric coil will getter done in thick trash and from all that I've read the Clean Sweep coil is a ring magnet.

So now that you have the Golden, I imagine that you'll be selling off all your other Tesoro detectors (e.g., Eldorado, Bandido II uMAX) - right?

Good on ya! Only problem - you're making me consider a Golden Umax and I'm detector poor already.

The Hell you say. :) Seriously I need to thin the herd some, but I just can't decide which ones to sell. I love all my Tesoro detectors.

I know one thing for certain it won't be the new tone Golden

Think about it. You already have the 5.75 inch coil, so you won't be out that money.:)

Trust me, you want the 'new tone' version of the Golden

Let me ask you this,
Lets say in average soil conditions and nickel size targets what the realistic running depth on the Golden?
That is to say, the depth it will work at, not, well one time I found a dime @ 14'

The way I have it set up, running with minimum discrimination and no notch I'd say 7 to 8 inches. About the same as my other

Had a reason to do a happy dance... Rusty left me a voice mail message letting me know that my Golden would ship back to me on Monday. Pretty awesome, especially since he called on Saturday - those Tesoro folks work hard.

I have been using a new-to-me Silver umax, so I am in good shape, but I am missing the audio interest and information that the tones provide. The Silver's all metal mode is nice for hunting, though.

Tabman I just picked up a used tejon from B Rtke and he told me it is in real nice shape. It comes with two coils the 9x8,and the 5.75 would you say to get the 8 in concent. next, and when I get the hang of this detector the next one I would like to get is the golden umax because I have done alot of research on the golden umax and from what I can tell you have been tearing up the ground with that new tone gold max..Keep up the good fun....

Man that Golden is a nice machine for parks and stuff. It would be a nice detector to have next to my Vaquero, but I definitely don't have the $$$ to buy another detector being a poor college student, lol
