Tiger Shark one of the best freshwater units available. Excellent in iron. Have never used it in salt.

Steve's right on. I sold the Excalibur and got the Tesoro. For freshwater hunting it was a good idea. It's a good beep and dig detector with a lifetime warranty. Beep and dig doesn't mean it's a toy with no depth. And like your read in the Tesoro forum the Tesoro's seem to find as many goodies as do the big boys. I have an E-Trac and I have to believe it's the best out there, but the Tesoro folks seem to be making a lot of good finds. Jim

was considering one before I got my wader-the wader has good depth(hit a quarter at measured 14") and 50 hrs on two 9v bats, really light with the controls in headphones plus saved lots of money.the only difference is warranty in my opinion but its your money

As for the Sand Shark; I have heard it said that there are deeper PI's or ones better optimized for good response on gold. I've also heard a couple of people say they would not want to dig any deeper than they have to dig with the Sand Shark.

I got a Sand Shark, used, for a good price. It is the only PI I've used so I can't compare to other PI's. When I am finding nothing in the wet beach or water with the VLF and switch to the Sand Shark I can pretty much guarantee I'll come up with at least a couple of coins.

Most used prices on Sand Sharks I've seen have been pretty attractive, that is if you can find one used. New price is still very reasonable compared to other new PI's.

I've been happy with mine. Don't know if it's the best value or not, but it is no slouch at finding targets. The price on this one used and how Tesoro takes care of their products are what got me into this PI. Otherwise, I may still be just reading about PI's.
