Tesoro modified pinpointer...

David

New member
A Tesoro Silver Umax with 4" coil. This is neat for a custom cut down, small modified pinpoint unit...after the target has first been found, then this is used to finish the job...

(Another one but instead a factory made unit used for the same purpose. http://www.kellycodetectors.com/vibra/vibra_730.htm )

Neat idea David. Another way that it could be used is if anyone has a young kid like I do it would make a great setup for them and alot of fun for them as well. Thanks for posting I think that was a great idea. Steve.

Thanks for the feedback and new ideas on its use. A person could put on a 5.75" coil instead of the 4" coil if desired and make it a little longer. I do not own this but was offered to buy it and I should have. Any person who is a handyman could make this up with a little common sense a hackwaw and drill, etc.

A person could make one up using a Compadre too. Maybe a Cibola or Vaquero as well but is a little more $'s.

Sometimes the best ideas are so simple. This would also be great under wooden steps

What a great idea for searching houses!
VERY handy.

There is only one thing missing that would make it the ultimate pinpointer,,,you need to make a holster just like Josh Randall's on the T.V. series, Wanted: Dead Or Alive,,,Steve McQueen, now that was a man.

I wonder waht the air test us and how deep it goes

If you have the patience to swing slowly over small patches of ground at a time, the 4" coil is a pretty good performer considering its small size. Depth, of course depends on the size of the target, but you can usually count on 5 - 6" on most coins etc. I've made some of my better finds using one. The comments above referring to tight places are right on. I found an 1860 presidential campaign button in an old crawl space under the remains of an early house. It's sort of like a tightly beamed flashlight versus a floodlight. Great tool when that's what you need.

I was going to do this with my Compadre. It would make a great pin pointer for nugget shooters using big PI machines.

I think the silver is probably a better choice for this than a compadre. The silver has sensitivity, pinpoint and you dont have to mod it for the small coil. Nice.

the silver VLF 10 kHz Frequency
compadre 12 kHz frequency and most say the 12 khz is what makes the compadre so good, but you are limited to the stock coil which is a big deal to some people
