Any comments on the sand shark. Just bought one was it a mistake?

Hello Paul,
Im the other Paul from Ca. What makes this unit seem to be a mistake. I've never owned one or even tried one out.
Good Luck,
Paul

Paul,
I've had one for 2 years, only used it a few times as I live in central NC. It's an OK machine, nothing spectacular... just a basic PI. The first time I took it out it went berserk a couple of times, the audio railed out for about 10 seconds. First time it happened I thought the case had sprung a leak. Asked Jack Gifford about it, he had never heard of this happening. Last summer it worked just fine.
Pinpointing is a little difficult due to the auto-retuning which cannot be turned off. The receive circuitry has a bit of "popcorn noise" which is a little irritating. And I wish it had a control for pulse delay, maybe that instead of the audio tone control which I have no use for.
The quality and ergonomics are excellent. The waterproof case is one of the best on the market, and with it rear mounted the balance is near perfect. Overall, it's a good detector that could use a few minor improvements.

Thanks for the response. I live in N.E. MO. so the water is cold already. I did wade out waist deep to find 3.12 in clad but no rings. Can't wait till next year. It was a bad year here because the beach was flooded for about 2 months and was closed to the public. Hopefully next year will be better. Wish all the fellow th's the best of luck. Happy hunting

Do I understand you will primarily hunt in fresh water? Why not get a VLF detector that will discriminate?
