Tesoro Silver Coils

Will the Tesoro 9" x 8" Concentric Search Coil fit the Tesoro Silver metal detector and will it get better depth?

Yes, it will. You must get the "uMax" type (http://www.tesoro.com/product/coils/) However I would recommend getting a 12x10 SEF, that is a great coil for the Silver.

No performance increase using the spoked coil, just looks better if you want a spoked coil.
Larger coils see only about a 1 or 2 inches increase in the depth dept. But may cause the detector to chatter.
Then internal ground balance will need to be adjusted. SEF coils are not all what they say, after spending $200 for the coils, many
seem to sell them off shortly thereafter. They do say those coils do wonders for some of the other detector brands high end machines.

Also, not impressed with the 7" concentric solid white coil from Tesoro on the Silver. Found it was actually harder to pinpoint with it on.

I have the 12x10 SEF coil on my Silver and I have not taken it off ever since I have put it on. No chatter with sensitivity at 10 and I have not adjusted the internal GB pot yet. It gets deeper than the web coil (just a little), but the ground coverage is great. I have found lots of coins and a golden ring in the dry sand on a beach. There is no loss of sensitivity to small targets. I wonder if adjusting the GB would make it even deeper:)

I've switched the brown 8" donut and the 9X8 spider back and forth on several models. Couldn't tell enough difference to chose one over the other, although on my DeLeon, I think the 8" performed very slightly better. I'm surprised at Sven's comment on the 7" concentric as I much prefer that coil when participating in seeded club hunts partially due to the pinpointing. However, that might be a glitch in one coil versus another of the same.

We make a 12x10 coil. It is no different than the SEF coil at all. We bought one and tested it. It is all in the marketing.

Seems to me the factories should know their machines and coils better than anyone. It behooves them to put out the best balanced combinations they are capable of. For me, I'll stay with the factory built.

I do not see a 12x10 DD coil for the Silver in the list. If I was in US, I would buy Tesoro coils. I am in Europe and due to all the customs and transport costs, the SEF is cheaper.

I am sorry, I didn't realize you were looking for a widescan coil. My apologies!

I went from stock to the 7 in deep search wide scan coil on my Silverumax and I really like it so far. Does anyone else use this coil on any umax model? Any predictions on how it will work for me up in the hot ground in Culpeper , Va later this month?
