Tesoro Vaquero Strikes Silver With New Super Coil:tesoro::usaflag:

Bobby s get both.:) I'm in the market for a 10 inch elliptical myself. I switched out all my 8 x 9 coils for 8 inch doughnut coils. I just like them better.

DEEPER...., may not be as deep...., super coil,.... 12 to 14 inches estimated....May be deeper because the sensitivity can be set higher than a stock coil.. In this entire post, until we get some hard comparison numbers, it is just a bunch of chatter...So, stock coil,,,,, settings, air distance in inches...8 inch concentric coil, SAME settings, air distance in inches...My guess is that the only advantage the 8 inch concentric may have over the stock coil is slightly better unmasking, and less ability to get hung up in brush.., also, maybe lighter?...All of which are definite plus marks..EMI is a problem, so IF it is negated by the 8 inch coil, a great plus..So, if you look at all the various aspects of what a coil can or can't do, even if the exact air distance is lower, the 8 inch concentric may be a coil to consider. So you have both coils, if you don't have one, I'll send you a wooden ruler..Going into super tune should be done in the hunting area. You do all that, we will proclaim you a hero, cut out a big star marked HERO, and nail it to your chest with 4d nails..OKay? It is your responsibility to give the best numbers possible, several people will be buying based on your comments, both past, and yet to be,..If they are not happy, expectations based on your comments, will you buy the unwanted coils from them? I will be buying one myself.. for brush hunting, and water hunting. The stock Spidoo coil is a Mother to swing in water..It will flat wear you(me) down even switching arms.

Hey, you forgot that the 8 inch doughnut coil pinpoints better than 8 x 9 coil does.

Tabman, I don't expect you to have numbers right off the bat for us or anything..it was your decision to try something new that no one else has really done and it seems to be working out for you and you should be able to enjoy it without having to do tests for us, thats your call.. When it comes to me and money, I can only get one new coil. The 5.75 concentric I have works well in trash, but cuts depth down a bit, The stock coil definitely does its job, but it has its faults. Is the 8" coil you have the concentric one? and my hunting conditions are generally mild soil Central NY soil and some trashy areas, but also I'll hunt park areas and such..I don't normally go in the woods a lot, but I may this season. Under those circumstances, since you have more experience, if you didn't have either the 8" round or 10" Elliptical, which would you choose? I just want your humble opinion, I wont think your giving me bad info and blame you for anything based on the coil I choose, lol

Also, when you say your friend Jim gobbles up silver like a Vacuum, what machine is he using?

Bobby s I'd get the 5 x 10 (make sure you get one with the short cable) and yes the 8 inch doughnut coil is a concentric. Jim was using a Teknetics Omega with a 10 inch elliptical DD coil. Great combination for coins up to 6 to 7 inches deep. Although Jim would well with a broom handle with a pie plate attached to the end of it.

I do plan on doing some air testing between the 8 x 9 and 8 inch coils. It's cold and windy outside right now.:(

OK here's a quick air test I did in my yard. Bare in mind I have terrible EMI. I was able to run the Vaquero with the 8 inch coil at full sensitivity and with the 8 x 10 coil I could only get the sensitivity up to a tad past '10'. I've come to the conclusion that EMI affects the depth even without chatter being a factor. At any rate, I was getting about 2 inches more with the 8 inch coil. If it got the same depth as the 8 x 10 coil I'd be happy because of all the other benefits of the 8 inch coil mentioned above.

I could have just lucked up and got myself a HOT 8 inch coil.:) I'm glad that I thought of putting a 8 inch concentric on my Vaquero.

Zinc Penny 11.5 inches with the 8 inch coil. 9.5 inches with the 8 x 10 inch coil.

Nickel 10.5 inches with the 8 inch coil. 8.5 inches with the 8 x 10 inch coil.

Dime 11.5 inches with the 8 inch coil. 10 inches with the 8 x 10 inch coil.

Quarter 12 inches with the 8 inch coil. 10 inches with the 8 x 10 inch coil.

I'm assuming if you could run full sensitivity on the 9x8 you would get the same numbers. But as to your on answer on getting the 10" elliptical over the 8", why is that so?

If you could only get one coil, get the10 inch elliptical over the 8 inch, because the 8 x 10 will serve you well until you can swap it out for a 8 inch coil. From what I've read the 10 inch coil covers a lot of ground with each sweep. That would be nice when searching sports field for gold jewelry.

Tabman, many thanks...Just for future reference, I would buy a used car from you.....I am getting a 7 inch concentric for my Silver, and have someone looking for a 4 pin 8 inch concentric..If you lived close enough, I'd take you hunting

I'm sure the 10" elliptical would do better than 6"-7" on coin sized objects with the Vaquero. I think im gonna get it

Good deal! Make sure you get one with the short cable. Let us know how it works out for you. I bet it's a winner.
