I just purchased a Outlaw.I took it relic hunting.It seemed over sensitive to small bumps on sticks and tall grass,causing small faint falsing type signals.My Tejon don't do this,the vaquero never did this.What do i do? Could this be something more pron in the umax line.Seems like my old Tesoro pillar did this,my old eldorado did this.What do i do?

Place an older BROWN 8 inch coil on your Outlaw, and see if it still does the same thing.

Just curious if it's the COIL, or the tweeked-UP Bandido II umax circuitry.

I never got to test the new 8" white new version that came with the Outlaw.It got stolen along with another coil.Don't ask me how.What i might try is the 5,75 on a hunt just to see how it acts.I will buy a new 8" doughnut.I don't think there is a difference between the new version white doughnut and the brown one?Don't matter to me.But i would like to figure something.It did good over the flat dirt with the 5.75 last week.That combination found a flat button that had been missed on a little area i have hunted say thirty times with multiple detectors.It is ok if the bandido 2 did this,now i know some more what to expect.And hopefully can adjust to what is happening.The disc on the Outlaw really surprised me.I ran below nickel and was shocked by how much trash items it was rejecting while finding smaller type good targets,like small pins.This detector is going to be the big jewelry detector.Just wait and see,i told you so.

You could get a HOT one, a COLD one, or a typical average does what it's supposed to do coil.

What coil are you using that is giving you trouble?

Let me make it clear that I do not own an Outlaw (yet), I just know about some coils doing this, and other coils doing that.

My Outlaw is a little sensitive to small bumps on dirt, sticks, etc. but not to the point of being a distraction. I get the faint falsing but it doesnt repeat if I swing it a second time without hitting the object ans sometimes doesnt repeat even if I do hit it.

Im certainly no expert though. I have not been in the field with the 5.75 or the 12x10 yet so i cant speak to those coils' behavior.

MY old Bandido u max did that. Make sure the cable is not wobbling around on the pole assembly. One of the great Tesoro users in here will be able to help you out.

Spirit, the falsing may just be the 5.75 coil running a bit hot, sensitivity maxed out? Or try retuning right off the bat before going into Disc mode.

Retune before going into the disc mode.This is very important to know about the Outlaw! I have not figured the Outlaw out yet myself.But i see were this could through settings off.If you go straight from all metal no motion to disc it can change things?Anyway i have to pay more attention to this detector when i get it out.I wish it was a little cooler i would take it on a relic hunt and figure this outlaw out. :-D

Here we go again on the retune feature. I still don't get this darn button!! Why would your settings be off when switching? If the knobs don't move why would settings change by simply switching modes? Not doubting you as you know much more about this than I do, it's just a really confusing button. It makes it go wacky sometimes or it's just me. Here's an example.. I'm hunting in the woods in disc mode. I get a solid hit. I switch to all metal no motion. i zero in on the target and hit the retune. Pinpoint works flawless and I retrieve a small lead shot. I flip the switch back to disc and continue to hunt. It was quiet for a long time when I decided to hit the retune button to "retune" it. It didn't make the usual sound. It made no sound. I switch to all metal motion and the threshold was silent. I crank the threshold and still silent. I hit the retune, and suddenly it screams!! I quickly turn down the threshold and it stayed screaming until I hit the retune again. Then it was back to normal. This retune button is annoying as hell. You never really know what state the damn thing is in. I like the machine. It's deep. It's sensitive, it's light, it's fun, but i'm not liking having to second guess it's settings. Why should settings, which are knobs that must be turned manually, change when switching modes. Tesoro needs to better clarify this "retune" button and how it changes things. I personally think it's a confusing feature. If all it did was what the manual said it does that would be fine. But it does more than that. What,?? I have no idea..

Well what i have found so far -IS - 1st thing we do is ground balance-- that is done in threshold all metal - toggle all the way left so lets say we have ground balanced the machina to be negitive and then switch it to Disq and start searching now we go to the no motion and the coil is off the ground , because its negitive ground balance its going to screem if you lower the coil it should quite down but if you switch to threshold and then back to disc you loos the ground balance setting if you ground balance way positive and switch into no mo as you lower the coal it will also sound off like a banchy so a comination of corect ground balance and pressing retune is needed when you press that retune in NO -MO away from any metal it gets extreemsly sensitive to any metal a long way off maybe i can do a video on this subject and get it posted

You do have to pay attention to the way you flip back and forth between settings.If you flip the toggle from disc to no motion and then straight to disc mode without fist retuning with the retune button the detector will be out of wack right? I know because of this true no -motion feature,this detector is very different.We will figure it out.Some of the quirky things about the outlaw may prove useful.
