TesoroMD .... maybe fix the Texas Dealer Listing.

Monte

Well-known member
Nathan, I have my suspicions about the culprit, but you need to go to our Dealer listing site and check, then fix, what comes up for Texas. There area couple of 'knobs' here that I haven't found on ANY Tesoro model I have ever used.

Then, I saw where you are now wearing several hats for management roles, which I have done before. When you find the time, perhaps, maybe you could pop onto the Findmall Tesoro Forum and monitor some of the posts and replies, just to straighten out some of the errant things we read. Some will lead folks astray as to the best or proper way to set-up and operate a Tesoro.

I have a couple of Tesoro's in my present arsenal to compliment my detector battery for sites where their strengths are wanted/needed. Yes, I have made comments about the direction I fear Tesoro might be headed, but they are based on personal experiences in this industry for decades, ad being on the working end of watching a company cave and go under due to bad dealer/marketing decisions. I would sure hope there is away for Tesoro to stay afoat and work things out. Some way to get a bunch of dealers back into your fold, and see more Tesoro Dealers stock the product and actively sell it.

I'm curious if you are a business type of guy an that's what you do at Tesoro, or are you an actual hobbyist o devoted detectorist who has some good, in-the-field detector experience? It would b great to see some factory-direct replies to many of the posts on the forum.

Just my thoughts, and please, take care of Texas.

Monte

Monte maybe consider not worrying about things that you can't control. The direction I see for Tesoro is good, heck I may even need shades! The thing to keep in mind here is that this is income tax season and during this time of year underhanded tacticts and smear campaigns are common in niche markets.... so try not to believe anything you read on the internet...ever. There are two directions I am hoping Tesoro is considering...with one being the addition of a cacheable 'retune' dial on the Outlaw. What a cool feature! Just imagine setting the retune circuit in four configurations, turning the rotary controller around the big red retune button four each of your previously set tunings... one for steel shot, lead shot, and sometimes weird iron spikes. The other direction being a modular detector/coil packaging option...though the Outlaw looks to be the best deal on the market this season. Also emphasizing low-tide and the fact that Tesoro's factory is in Arizona and in Arizona the ground is highly mineralized.....less microcontroller abstaction is an excellent selling point, especially bearing in mind that NASA regulary crashes mulit-million dollar spacecraft because of overlooked programming errors. As far as disgruntled employees taking their disgruntlement to the internet to smear their former employer...boys will be boys. So Don't worry Monte, everything looks OK from here!

Hey Monte ,When did you become a Tesoro dealer?" but you need to go to our Dealer listing site and check, then fix, what comes up for Texas"

Might need an aspirin for the arrows, Monte, especially from that hidden indian.

Would be nice to get stocking dealers. I don't know of any stocking dealers in my area, maybe my entire state, outside of some big box stores that carry the entry level stuff. I did a lot of business with Mr Bill at Surfscanners Detectors just because he stocked lots of stuff. And I live clear across the country from him. It was nice. I just called, asked what he had, and bought what struck my fancy. He retired and I sure miss his store.

I think when I retire, I'm going to become a stocking dealer just to piss the non-stocking dealers off. The word will be, "Call Mike, he has it on the shelf and you can walk out the door with it!".

I for one think what Monte is doing is perfectly fine. After all, these forums are for us to voice our opinions aren't they? I don't have any issues with Tesoro or their products. Yes, i'm new to Tesoro and only been in the Hobby for 3 years so I value opinions, advise, knowledge from anyone who's been at it longer than me. I think these posts are great and lets the companies know just how people are feeling about them, as long as we "Keep it real".... HH

There being the real issue does not matter who it is on this website you are not allowed to post negative against any product or detector just the positive. Apparently So the bad points of a detector are never really allowed to be worked out only the good points which help the Manufactures sell their product without any! Oh Sorry nevermind better not continue

Good going BarryL......I agree.....I'm sure they will be closing this thread soon..

Thank You I am not one to post bad things against a company or product unless it really is a problem with my personal detectors I have never had a bad tesoro product and highly respect their Product and no matter what the forum rules are this is visited by the Public which in MY opinion makes it Public. So Honest Opinions about a Consumer Product should be Allowed GOOD or BAD

You can say it's not so all you want, but it won't change the fact that Monte has sour grapes for Tesoro. He's a really super smart man, but not smart enough to fool me.:)

Barry, I'll second that....I sure know I would not like to buy something that won't work for me. So I always look at the good, bad and the ugly regarding any detector.

Hi,, I can't understand why this topic was even started???? It looks like you should of sent a P.M. to Nathan or contacted Tesoro directly with your disagreements or complaints....It kinda acts like your trying to stir the pot again, and it was just starting to cool down.........Has the bad economy got everyone mad at everyone else in the world.....On the other hand, I do think there is something that's not quite right at the Tesoro's Headquarters....Certain things just don't add up to four and a half....JJ

The first bit that I should mention is that the forum should absolutley without a doubt be a free and public place to list any questions, comments, or ideas concerning the topic for which the forum was created. That being said, we in this country have a certian freedom given to us outlined in the Bill Of Rights that allows free speech. We as countrymen have sometimes taken for granted the value at which this freedom presents. In short, a rumor is just that, a rumor. When I joined this forum it was in the hope that I could answer the questions, comments, and concerns to best of my ability. I refuse to engage in a mud slinging contest just to help someone resolve their own person issues. Ladies and gentlemen, we are all adults here, and I will do my best at a level of professionalism. But I am not the forum police. This site has its own administrators and moderators to handle the multitude of misrepresenting comments left by anyone on this site, and we as users must respect the rules engaged by them. Ok, on to the next bit. We here at Tesoro are looking in some new directions with regards to marketing, developement of new technologies and guidelines to help local dealers. We haven't changed our prices in a very long time, yet we still offer the same great quality that every user of a Tesoro Metal Detector has come to expect. These are timeless values that not every company understands anymore.

p.s., Monte, you never did say what was actually wrong with the Texas dealer page. Could you please elaborate?

I for one could care less if there is a dealer or not. I get on the web, find what I want, and place my order. Heck, I got my outlaw and f2 on amazon probably cheaper than a dealer price. I think maybe the reason dealers are dropping off is simply because more and more people do as I do, get it online. My experiences with dealers of any kind has always been terrible. Car dealers...heavy equipment dealers...parts dealers...etc.. They mark things up way too much and then wonder why we shop online for the same item CHEAPER! If I ran Tesoro i would have no dealers only online store front and focus on that avenue. Sometimes I think the older generation are the majority who actually want more dealers. I think the majority of my generation could really care less, as long as we can hit "enter" and get the same product, for the same or better price, and still get all of the warranties,,,,,,,,,,We're good...

This stuff would not being going on if Jack was still running the show.

I am going to say some stuff so listen up.
You may like inline dealers and have no interest being able to have a dealer whom will let you see the new products first hand before you buy.
The problem with the online stores is that they will kill off the mom and pop businesses that sell locally. Now you may be happy to go into wallyworlld to buy a tv and vcr and car parts. But for they most part you'll deal with salesman with no clue what you need or what they have to sell.
So I am happy to keep the local business around and get help first hand when I need it.
If Monte is saying that texas has too few or too many in the listing(as in the names there do not carry tesoro any more)
Maybe the listing should be corrected.
Personally I'd like to have them just have a place to ask and correct answers on the stuff in the manual .which I do not think was answered yet.
Am I attacking them NO.

Times have changed, the internet is here to stay. Most internet dealers work out of their house or garage and have very little overhead. The local mom and pop shops are dinosaurs and are disapperaring fast. They simply cannot compete. They have high overhead and cannot sell at internet prices and make a living. In the right areas some shops can survive, but those are getting far and few between. In Wisconsin there are not many left. The internet has changed the way business is done and who is doing it. Those that have adapted are doing well. Those who haven't or didn't have the ability to do so are history. I'm not saying I like it or dislike it, it is what it is. And..... no I don't like Walmart. I would rather go into a shop and see and test before I buy, but in my case it is not feasibly possible without a long road trip. Things are constantly changing and evolving whether we like it or not. Remember not too long ago what digital cameras did to Polaroid, Kodak, and others. Canon and Nikon adapted others didn't.
