The local mom and pop shops are dinosaurs and are disapperaring fast. They simply cannot compete. They have high overhead and cannot sell at internet prices and make a living. In the right areas some shops can survive, but those are getting far and few between. In Wisconsin there are not many left. The internet has changed the way business is done and who is doing it. Those that have adapted are doing well. Those who haven't or didn't have the ability to do so are history. I'm not saying I like it or dislike it, it is what it is. And..... no I don't like Walmart. I would rather go into a shop and see and test before I buy, but in my case it is not feasibly possible without a long road trip. Things are constantly changing and evolving whether we like it or not. Remember not too long ago what digital cameras did to Polaroid, Kodak, and others. Canon and Nikon adapted others didn't.
