Tesoro's next metal detector?

SpiritRelic

New member
I have used many and some older model Tesoro detectors. All that i have and had seen kind off similar except for one.The Golden umax. This is a very unique metal detector. And a coin shooters dream in my opinion. With more and more trash being thrown on the ground i think that a more advanced type detector with notch discrimination with notch width control, and tones are going to become more and more important to the standard detectorist.Trash is our enemy.I have never owned a display detector so i can not comment on this subject. But the notch and tones of the Golden has really made me enjoy detecting so much.I feel like a more advanced type of detector such as a Golden umax would be a good next detector for Tesoro .Not so much display model but to beef up the Golden umax.Ground balance control to get more depth.Maybe a switch to cut the tones off in the disc mode.Just to really soup up the Golden in every way. What are your thoughts on this. What would you like to see from Tesoro's next metal detector?. :-D

What ever it is it needs a depth meter, that is the one item I really miss when hunting with my Tejon. Just knowing the approximate depth makes up my mind to dig or walk on by more than any ID meter. I have a high end meter machine and when things start getting a little deep it will lie and say it is iron. If it can't tell the truth I would just as soon it didn't say anything.

:shrug :How about a new Gold detector , the Lobo is getting so old it will need a walking stick soon .

Just make the legendary Diablo Umax with discrimination !

Like I said.... A Vaquero with tones. One for iron and two user adjustable. The notch I can live without if the tones are adjustable.

I would like to see them bring back into production some of the older models that are so hard to find. Like was mentioned here the Diablo Umax. I would also like them to offer a detector like the Pirahna again. I have been reading up on the Pirahna and would like to find one in good condition. The other detector that took me a while to find was an Eldorado Umax IMO, it was one of the best detectors that Tesoro ever made. I will not be parting with it or my Compadre ever. If some of these detectors were so good, why stop producing them? I think back to how critical the posts were about the Outlaw when it was released and how everyone said Tesoro had missed the boat, but those who did buy one report back about how much they love this detector. Posts keep popping up about how antiquated Tesoros technology is and how they need to come out with a better TID detector. How they need to offer this and that on detectors. Granted there are some detectors I would like to try, but because the soil is heavily mineralized where I live, I am limited as to which detectors I can buy, if I want any kind of decent depth where I live. I would have to say I would buy a Deleon or Cortes or a silver Umax if they put a manual ground balance on them. HH

Dirtdigger33 those are some great choices you have in your arsenal.

Eldorado Umax, Bandido II Umax, and Tesoro Compadre

Ok,sounds good to me.A vaqereo with tones, but a digital depth display?.I don't know about?.But the Cowboy sounds good. And it can use all those cool 4 pin coils.Tones,hot,GB.Of course a toggle switch to cut the tones on and off.And Wow,add notch! Boom!!! :-Q

Tabman. I do have some good ones in my arsenal. Glad I found Tesoro early in my detecting hobby. You have quite a collection of the good ones as well. I enjoy reading your posts and appreciate the good info you share. Can't say I am not a bit jealous of your mild soil in Tennessee though. I would like to try a silver umax or a conquistador, but I already learned the hard way that I need manual gb. I had to sell a mint condition silver Sabre umax, because it did not cut through the mineralization as well as my manual ground balance units. My compadre does alright because of the small coil. I will be keeping it forever. I am looking to ad a water unit at some time to the stable though. Keep hunting and posting.

You don't have to look to far to find them still being made today, certain models are still being made for the European market
The French Tesoros. For instance EuroSabre --The Invincible or EuroSabre for the Czech republic

As Robert M. once said if you want a US Euro custom built, Tesoro will for $800.

So if you really want something, might want to look at the used overseas detector market. You'll just pay a premium.

Actually, if you like (or own) the Golden umax then I don't see the problem as you described above. Thrash should be your friend. If you clean up a patch of ground, say 10 x 10 ft. square of all surface trash you will see the older and deeper targets (coins) that lurk beyond 6 inches plus. I know alot of us use this method to get to the older finds, but it's well worth the effort.

Good Luck,

I actually prefer the color scheme of theirs compared to ours. I love that black look.

Exactly what I have said in the past.
Maybe the color scheme change to black might boost sales in the US............maybe the "toy detector" stigma would then fade away.
Black, gold with red highlights make them look more professional. Brown, beige is boring, other colors are clownish.
I do like the Blue/black UK Tejon color scheme.

I think with the black they look like Troy Shadow detectors. I even like the older style gold n black Tesoro's....I do not care much for the color of the Vaquero, Cibola, and Tejon.

I have been on foot.Got me a ride today for 200.00.Got the golden packed in a book bag.I can go detecting now besides the park down the street!100 miles to the gallon!.I am going diggin!.Hope i find some gas money?.we will see. :-$ :-D
I was trying to send a pic of my ride. But i have not figured the phone out. :-Q

I think i got my phone camera to finally work!.Here it goes.A pic of my treasure mobile.

Europe gets every thing special!.I can not figure this out!.They get a Tejon pro, special ordered Tesosro's ,cool black paint jobs. What is up with this?.They got one outfit over there that will custom build a Tesoro. Why can't we get this?.No,we get stuck with silly clown paint jobs on our detectors. This sucks!.We need to talk about this one Robert! x-( :-[ :-( :-!

Hahahaha....I hear ya. Color obviously means very little but simply due to digging in the dirt, I prefer a darker colored detector.

Looks like you got a bargoon at $200
