Testing 2 gold detectors .

I did some basic testing between two gold detectors , the result was one detector gave a signal to all 7 the other to 3 & a half !
I've marked from hard to easy next to the specimens regarding signal , those not marked gave clear good signals to both .

All objects were placed on medium hot ( minerals ) ground , both detectors were then ground balanced & waved over all items .

The little nuggets taped to plastic weigh .2 & .4 of a gram , the smaller one is the size of a match head .
Coils used were 8" mono on GPX 4500 & 6"x4" DD on the Whites .

Easy to guess what detector saw them all

Hi Steve ,
Yes it's a eye opener to see what a 20 year old GM 11 can do ! :)

You must have convinced Jonathon Porter after lending him your GB 2 , as he said this :
VLF detectors do have a place in the arsenal of serious electronic prospectors and they do find gold missed by PIs because Pulse Induction means just that, its a pulse detector, to get rid of the vast majority of ground noise you also have to trade off some signal response to targets that fit in the same place as the trade offs do, basically speaking that means some fast time constant nuggets will be lost due to the receive waitings turning on too late for the target signal to be recognised (in effect blind to some targets)

.

Amen, pros and cons to'm all. Variety is the spice of life and to clean the plate a gold you must employ and/all detectors you can get a hand on. Never found a bad detector as they all tell ya something useful, even ol'TR and BFO-JohnJohn
