Tether Hook?????

I found this relic off of the beaten path but still within city limits. I have found a couple of CW relics not too far from it. I have seen a similar picture in a relic book that shows one just like it but only half as long. Could this be a tether hook to allow a horse to graze and could it be from the CW period? Any help would be appreciated.

Scott: My guess is a homemade gate hinge that would be hammered into a gate post and supports a gate.

Most likely your correct. These are found more so in CS camps and used as a rein holders in place of a picket pin. Would have been driven into tree's or stumps. Lots of stumps around when the army is camping. It takes a lot of wood to cook for hundreds or thousands of men, not to mention warming a cold night.
