Thank you..everyone who helped me.. But I have left the Explorer ranks

You know the first thing I always try to determine with my prospective customers is what kind of personality they have. I have found that you are just not going to have a happy customer unless you match their personality to the machine. You see Elton, I am sort of like you. I think the Explorer is an amazing machine, however, it's just not for me. It's too darn gadgety. This is from a guy who is a Minelab dealer. When I detect coins relics, beach, 95% of the time you will see me swinging my very old Sovereign. Turn it on and start swinging, no LCD to look at. I'm primarily a Gold Nugget hunter. Well all of these new fan dangled Minelab machines are simply amazing, the GP4000, the GP4500, they have variable tracking speeds, and LCD screens, etc. 95% of the time, I am swinging the same ol' SD2200d I've had for the last 12 years.

So don't feel bad, you just had a personality mis-match. You are probably a no-nonsense, matter of fact guy, who likes to be told the "bottom line." You probably have very little tolerance for fools, and if you are like me, I am patient to a point, but that point comes pretty darn quick. I'm too old, if I'm patient for too long I could die while I am being patient waiting for something to happen.

Going back to what works best for me......................SE just wasn't for me.

But I must say ALL OF YOU are the best bunch of people I have ever had the pleasure meeting.

I know some of you own different detectors, so I will see you on the Fisher forum. Hope you all set records this year finding Silver & Gold Coins.

I will keep reading this fine forum, and hopefully post a few good finds on the F75 forum.

AGAIN THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP. YOU ARE APPRECIATED.

Thank you Fine Sir.

Too Funny.

Elton writes me and tells me the profession he is in, which just so happens to be the profession I have been in or affiliated with since 1969, When I said you are just like me, I guess I hit that nail on the head. Nice to know my degree in Psychology actually works, and that just from something as simple as knowing a person doesn't take a liking to the Explorer can tell me a lot about their personality. Now if I could just figure out my wife, who I have been married to for 39 years!

I detect as a casual hobby.........NOW MY NEXT STATEMENT IS NOT AN OFF THE WALL INSULT !!! IT"S IN FACT A COMPLIMENT..Most of the successful Minelab users take this activity ( Metal Detecting) to the next level. Their the people who must excell in all they do.."Be the Best" dig the deepest, and find the best coins. It is not a casual hobby for the most..it's a I will be the best there is in this hobby type personality..Sorta the Tiger Woods of Metal detecting.

Thats a good thing...............And I truly take my hat off to all you Minelab Masters. but I did come to the conclusion I am not that type personality..To me a Hobby is a past time for just relaxing and enjoying a little time in the field..A penny find to me is as good as A Seated, A large cent..So yes Doc..you are correct..It does take a personality to be successful with a Minelab..Thanks for opening my eyes... I at first felt like a failure. That I am not...I am an average person doing a hobby I enjoy... Thanks for reading............Happpy Hunting all.
