Just wanted to send out a big thank you to everyone for your support of "Saving History". SH surpassed 50,000 views this weekend. No, it's not 22,000,000 like some skateboarding dog, or a girl singing into her webcam...but 50,000 very targeted, interested viewers.

We've got lot's of things coming in the future...anyone interested in "Saving History: New England"? Also, expanding in SC as well. Should I tell you that I was contacted by SC ETV over the DIV weekend? All because of you guys. Tell me what you want! You have a site that you'd like to shoot an episode of Saving History at??? thats what i did & I'm in the process of doing my own episodes.........they come with software to edit on your computer & it's fun. Hopefully I'll have the first DVD of "Saving History New England" ready soon.......

Detectorists don't want to see people or places as much as they want to hear and see detecting. They sell a splitter at radio shack that will plug your headphones and your camera into the detector. What's an iffy signal, demonstrate the speed of recovery of the F75, Explorer SE, and Whites DFX. How do you ground balance properly???? etc. etc. etc. You don't have to ask what these guys want to see.......you just have to read their posted questions. They have already told you. You just need to look. The music is a nice touch and professional. Try bringing on expert users or guests that are really proficient with their machine, anyone owning that machine who can maybe learn another technique from your show that will further his own abilities is now a dedicated viewer. Comparisons of different machines by expert users is the meat, the potatoes are the finds and places and people. As the Kinks said it best "GIVE THE PEOPLE....... WHAT THEY WANT"

or any other forum isnt always a good idea. Case in point. a site by a fella that ranks detectors by depth capability. Having been to that forum, I can attest to the flawed data there. (VERY FLAWED). All it does is create animosity, and I'm fairly sure thats not what Gregs shooting for here.
What we really want to see is guys out having a good time. The forums like this one do the best job when comparing notes, and gleaning info about a particular machine. Gregs video is about detecting, not pissing contests, and thats what you always end up with when you start comparing machines. While any particular guy may not have the deepest or hottest machine out there, its STILL HIS machine, and guys tend to be the same way with their machines they are with their cars. Now, a little promo showing novices how to GB, or maybe pinpointing tips would be ok. Little "how to stuff". But definately not machine comparisions.
incidentally, I DO like seeing different places and people. Lets me experience places I may never get the chance to beep!

Hi there Low.

Do you have a reasonably modern digital camera? If so, check if you can take movie shots.

Most digital cameras now include a movie facility, although it may only be of a limited quality.

You would need a memory card of 1 or 2 gigabytes to take several minutes of action.

Such cameras also have sound capabilities...........So check it out...........MattR.UK

I get your point streak, I just wish you felt more strongly about it Ever watch that show "Gold Fever", that's a nice people, place show. Agreed, that's nice, but how come I can turn on my tv to fifteen different how to find and catch fish shows, but can't find one single metal detecting show??? And if there was a metal detecting show, it would be to our advantage to see product comparisons between detectors, coils, probes and such by guests who were very proficient with those machines, who could give valuable tips and techniques to those who already own those particular machines and give the rest of us insight considering a purchase, who can't very well go out and buy four different machines just to compare them. Yes, the information could be slighted, however, what info on the tv isn't?? But when it's to bloody cold for me to be out ; it would be cool to watch someone else actually doing it, heraing through their head phones on a beach for rings, in a field for relics, under water at a shipwreck, etc. I'd watch it, thought others would too.

I for one really enjoy the videos that show plain folks finding things in places I might never get too. I like the ones for SC Digger and the ones from Mudslide Slim. I also enjoy the corny Gold Fever shows and the Finding Treasure shows with Becky something or other.

I would like to see a forum just for F75 finds and use this Classroom Forum for education on the machine and techniques. I posted a topic recently about settings for deep silver and what do they sound like and got next to nothing in reply. It sadly seems like if you don't have lots of pictures of coins or relics people do not take the time to reply.

Just my opinion, everyone has one. Have a great day and get out and find something.

Randy, I saw your post about settings for deep silver and I would have loved to been able to answer that for you but I haven't got much use out of my F75 yet. So it's not something I could help you with. Seems like allot of guys on this form are primarily relic hunters. Some though, are finding silver, so give this guy a hand, eh? After seeing the post about the F75 having several frequencies, I have a new found respect for the machine, the options on the F75 are pretty wide and varied. If you like to tweak your machine, it appears that the F75 has enough tweaks that one can either find the perfect G spot or screw it up, and good. Who's to say one of those frequencies doesn't work extremely well in wet conditions and another is the one to use in drought conditions?? I was bias against my machine because I had problems with it, but I honestly think there is allot in the F75 that many won't tap out for years to come and I'm looking forward to trying. As for SC Digger's videos I like them, think he does a great job, he asked what people would like to see and I answered from my point of view. Maybe a show on the way specific targets sound like, like your deep silver question, do those sounds distort when partially masked? I wasn't knocking his videos, just want to learn more, that's what I try and get from this form.

Unfortunately, I have no budget and very little time, so doing comparisons and such is kindof out of the question...and really not where I wanted to go with the series anyway. Maybe I can try and get more technique in though. Anyway, thanks for all of the comments.
