I want to thank everyone for your comments and help with my 6 week old E-Trac. When I first purchased this machine I felt I might be biting off a little more then I could chew, as I've never owned a detector before that you could program to help find what few good targets that was left out there amidst all that junk.
Reading this forum and listening to all your suggestions about using programs like the Quick Mask to separate the good finds from the iron and different ways to tweak discrimination programs to help work through all that junk has bin the difference between learning to make good finds (enjoy myself) and wrapping this machine around a tree. You have saved me countless hours of confusion in the learning process.
I have not even shown my son (who has detected with me since he was a teenager) now in his early 40's this machine as I wanted to get some hours out there with it before I put it in his hands. He's not the most patent person about these detectors and I wanted to be able to show him what we could do with such a great machine. To do that I needed to know a little about it myself.
I know I'm a little long winded and have probably chimed in when and where I didn't need to be, but you have a great forum here and I just get carried away at times. From now on I'm just going to read , enjoy, and learn.
Again thanks it's been appreciated. Rick
