Thanksgiving Day Bounty

As I have written about a thousand times, Thanksgiving Day was the last time I got out in 2007. I made it out for 2 hours again this year. Had a swell time even though it was too cold. The sun was out at first which helped, but when she ducked her head behind the clouds it got cold fast. Nothing but detecting to write about today. Here are my thoughts. I need one wheat cent for 100 in 2008. My wheat percentage is almost exactly 1% lifetime so perhaps at the right spot I could manage it. The old 2500 did not perform normally in the cold. It might have been me. I had to lower the sensitivity quite a bit. I still got good depth especially in one area. One of the first targets I found was the great 925 silver weave band. It's in great nick too. 5.11g. One of the last targets I found was the other smaller, and also very pretty, 925 and onyx ring. 1.68g. If today is my last hunt I that quarter will be my final dig in 2008. It indicated size B 7 inches. That is not normal for my GTI 2500 unless it is a silver coin. It's a 1967 quarter and was 8 inches down when I finally found it with my Pro-Pointer. Speaking of my Pro-Pointer. I don't know how many actual hours I have on the batteries but it has lost some range especially on dimes. Hopefully new batteries solves that. Got that small brass cat pendant last. Nothing wrong with a little pussy after a hard day in the field. That's the oldest one in the book.

Finally. I thanked God for a great life and nice time out in the field a few times this morning. I tend to write about certain non metal detecting topics that may or may not be appropriate for this forum. I'm worse in person believe me. Today, of all days, I took a few extra moments to thank God for all He has given me and to ask for a bit more tolerance especially when it comes to my really big pet peeve. That said, I am thankful to have this nice group of folks here to correspond about detecting and treasure hunting and other interesting subjects. I consider many of you to be friends even though we have never met and probably never will.

I'm going over to my friends in a while where I plan on eating too much and drinking too much so I'll probably be OOC for a day or two!

Chris

To my secret Santa. If you could include a coin you've dug up from someplace near where you live I'd love to stick it in my brag book. That's the only begging I'm going to do!

Great finds for your last hunt of the year, I came in better this year on the silver coin count over last year, by 3 coins, total silver coins for this year were 33, didn't do as good on sterling rings, fell 4 short this year, only 1, but did find my first gold ring this year, guess I'll trade silver for gold anytime, most unusual find was a pocket knike, from the brown shoe co, in the shape of a high button shoe, done some research and believe it is from the late 1800's era, would post you a picture of all, but can't do it.

I finally beat all my totals from last year but I had to hunt twice as many hours to do it with some categories. I din't find a war nickel in 2008 and I was really hoping to. My silver ring total is almost 50 now to 23 in 2007. My silver coin total is 28 to 15 or 16. I think around 18 of my first 1000 coins this year were silver. Found a lot of silver coins until I found that first gold ring. Then I stopped thinking about silver coins! There was that 1908 gold coin in bezel I found too. Eight more gold rings. Man 2008 was sweet!

You MUST learn to post photos. It is not that difficult as long as you have a digital camera. When you feel like you're ready to try we can help you out.

Chris

PS it might not be my last hunt. Weather cooperating.

Looks like you had a bounty filled year.
Hope that it'll be the same for you in the coming year:thumbup:

Thanks Joel. I'm sure glad you're here on the forum. All those mediocre hunts did add up after awhile.
