That string is getting too far down now, Depot Beach

this is an satilite photo of Depot Beach, on Lake Charlexoix in 1998.
Arrow one is where that underwater platform is I mention below. Arrow two is the dock I found the Mens nugget ring with 4 diamonds. The beach area is just to the left of arrow one and runs to where the land juts out a bit. That is where the coins are in such poor condition.
You can faintly see where the platform is, which is amazing from space <img src="/metal/html/shocked.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":shock"> <img src="/metal/html/shocked.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":shock">

...pretty impressive structure, Royal
I'd sure be interested in hearing if anyone discovers anything more about the corroded silver from that bay. Very curious.
I've gone about as far as I can go with info on the net, but I'm sure the local history would have something about the railway, the docks, sulpher or sulfides.... <img src="/metal/html/shrug.gif" border=0 width=37 height=15 alt=":shrug">
Thanks guys for posting such an interesting story.

Must be strange coming up on that underwater.
Have any old plot maps of the area?

I did not expect it and all of a sudden I see a form ahead of me and it is BIG! Dark and ominous. There are big boulders all around it and it is very interesting, once your eyes can focus on what it is.
From the aerial photo, it looks like it connects to the shore but it does not. If a person doesn't know about it it is invisible.
Diving is an adventure. I have had over 700 dives and don't think I have ever had one that was not a rush at some time <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D">

I grew up on Walloon Lake, but my brother in law grew up in Charlevoix, His family has been there forever and my have some history on that platform???

I could just get my face out of the water, standing on the tips of my fins. I am 6 ft so the water at the top of it must be around 7 ft deep. At least it was then. That was three years ago or so.

Dale and Kevin Willis, who grew up in Bay Shore. Dave Larson that lives in Boyne City. Diving off the Boyne River is a ball and it is spooky. I have dove in that hole behind the BRI and gotten one heck of a lot of lures.
I have a lot of time in the area <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D"> Love it

back in the 50's there was a tannery in Boyne City which sets at the far end of the lake, South end I guess.
That place stunk like a goats ass back then and I am sure they used some powerful stuff in the process. I would not be surprised if they offloaded the ships at the Depot and freighted them to Boyne and some of that crap might have spilled.
The water and sand looks pure as you can ask for at the Depot but something is causing the corrosion

and here is a link to it. It is not free but covers every part of the US.
You can download hi resolution maps of anywhere

Is that an X where the treasure is buried? <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">

rings. We're giving away all our spots. <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol"> <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">

I climbed it 8 years ago. That spot right in the middle is a small pile of rocks, in fact I have a picture of it somewhere, that holds a Piece of pipe. Inside is a book where all the climbers can sign their names and the date they climbed it.
The radii are paths that climbers have made while viewing the scenery before rappelling back down
