... Mandy, the owner says Zaggy appears to have grown some from a diet of neighborhood rabbits over the past two months its been loose in the neighborhood.
Late yesterday afternoon, just before dark Mandy's brother (about 21 years old) was trimming some hedge when Zaggy apparently got surprised and hissed loudly then took a strike at him. The snake then curled up around some branches and trunk and had to be unwound.
Being the kind and considerate neighbor that I am, I took a few steps back ... behind my neighbor, Don, and took a defensive position while watching the lovely 28 year old Mandy deal with her snake. I proudly explained to Don that I was not fearful at all ..... because I knew I could run faster than he could.
Mandy finally got the snake in a huge curley pile and took a plastic grain shovel with a towel wrapped around the scoop and partially lifted the snake into a plastic garbage container laying on its side. Once Mandy got the can tipped upright and the lid on the garbage can secured, I helped her carry it back into her house. She dumped the snake into its huge glass snake cage, that bad boy curled up and started striking and hissing at Mandy or anyone else who got near the cage. It appeared you could put at least one softball into the snake's mouth.
Here is a photo of the snake taken a year or so ago.
