The 11 foot long Red tail Boa has been recaptured ....

... Mandy, the owner says Zaggy appears to have grown some from a diet of neighborhood rabbits over the past two months its been loose in the neighborhood.

Late yesterday afternoon, just before dark Mandy's brother (about 21 years old) was trimming some hedge when Zaggy apparently got surprised and hissed loudly then took a strike at him. The snake then curled up around some branches and trunk and had to be unwound.

Being the kind and considerate neighbor that I am, I took a few steps back ... behind my neighbor, Don, and took a defensive position while watching the lovely 28 year old Mandy deal with her snake. I proudly explained to Don that I was not fearful at all ..... because I knew I could run faster than he could.

Mandy finally got the snake in a huge curley pile and took a plastic grain shovel with a towel wrapped around the scoop and partially lifted the snake into a plastic garbage container laying on its side. Once Mandy got the can tipped upright and the lid on the garbage can secured, I helped her carry it back into her house. She dumped the snake into its huge glass snake cage, that bad boy curled up and started striking and hissing at Mandy or anyone else who got near the cage. It appeared you could put at least one softball into the snake's mouth.

Here is a photo of the snake taken a year or so ago.

Are you sure that is her snake? With the Boa/Python problem you have down there in Florida I wouldn't be surprised if its an imposter! Good story!

.... and check to see they had water every day.

I didn't realise it then but the snake had escaped her cage and was roaming around her house. When she got back home she told me she had found the snake and put it back into the cage. I said what snake and she showed it to me. She also asked if I had seen her other cat anywhere .... I thought it was just hiding as to why I had only seen the one cat. Hummmm, (snake burp icon here).

Had I originally known she had that snake in there I would not have agreed to take care of her cat (cats).

That gal seriously needs to git rid of that snake.
She is quite irresponsible with it if it has escaped more than one time.
It's at a size now where is has become dangerous.
It is only a matter of WHEN it harms a small child in your area.

.... she is afraid someone will take it to kill it just for its skin. She wants it to live. She has called local animal attractions, the FWC, local zoos, etc.

I too wish it were not in the neighborhood.

Those snakes belong in their native country, not here where they have become an invasive species killing our native wildlife.

... also a wine sales person. She keeps the whole neighborhood supplied with wine tasting leftovers. And she has a perky / sweet personality ... not to mention easy to look at.

Our neighborhood has WAY TOO MANY rabbits anyway.

Maybe there is someone with building abilities in yer neighborhood that would be willin to
build her a more solid enclosure ?
I used to build 'em for folks 'round here.
A few sheets o' plywood and a hank o' glass. I got the glass for free from a local glass company that did comercial door installs.
They would set the old glass from the doors next to thier dumpster and it was free for the takin'.

If your kitty or puppy disappears, go look for the snake.

Why people want such creatures as Pets is beyond me,, Not snake related, but..Look what happened in Ohio last week. 50 something wild animals set free by their owner....... All but eight were killed by Deputy Sheriffs, and others," just to protect the public" in the area........
