The 18 Inch Excelerator Coil performed flawlessly ---

Well, I finally stopped at a farm I've passed up for the last year or more! It's only about 15 to 20 acres but is in an ideal location. At least I thought so. Lying beside the railroad tracks leaving Trinidad, the little field was just plowed up a week or so ago. I got there early toting my SE with18 inch Excelerator coil. My first find was a 45 cal. 2 ringer! Shortly, I found a 1903 Indian head penny. I knew it was going to be a fun morning! I ended up with 2 Indian Heads, 3 wheats, a 32 cal. Minnie ball, one 1908 V Nickel, a buffalo nickel (it's got a date but needs cleaning). I also found a small silver religious medallion and a part of a token along with an assortment of buttons and other junk. But hey, it was fun! I may post close ups of the coins later once I let them soak in hydrogen peroxide for a little.

By the way, I was finding very small items with the 19 incher; 22 brass, small copper washers, ect. I really do like this coil!
My first penny was about 15 inches deep; unreal!

Thanks for looking!

Hello Richard!
I hope all is well! Thanks for reading my pittle post! Lol!

I'm sold on Excelerators; owning 4 of them. The 18 incher is a little heavy but I tend to drag my coils right on the top of the dirt so it's not too much of a problem My problem is, being older my arms and shoulders are not what they once were. Neither are my knees. But, I'm muddling through.I handled the Big Boy for 5 hours today. :) As you know, the depth you realize out of any coil has to do with the size of the object. But, as I stated in my initial post my first find today was a penny at 15". No, I didn't measure it; it was eyeballed. It was down there. I dug a buffalo nickel at about 12 inches and surprisingly the sound was weaker than the penny. The coin was badly corroded.

I'm sending you a PM; got something for you.

Man, that is one big coil!! How does it pinpoint? Great finds by the way!!

How do the accuracy of the dual VDI numbers on the SE work with the big 18" coil ?? Way off , or right on the same as the small coil ?? I heard CoilTek makes a 15" WOT coil for the SE as well, how is this one compared to the Kellyco Excellerator ??

Hello David!
Good question!

I hunt utilizing SMARTFIND but seldom look at the display. I listen to sounds, preferring to hunt in ALL METAL MODE-IRON MASK-ON@20. I crank SENSITIVITY UP to 32 when allowed and GAIN@10.
At this site however I did have to rely on AUTO SENSITIVITY which does a good job. I totally disregard the discrimination patterns Minelab dedicated half their manual too, deeming them worthless. :)

Any Coiltek product IMO is a great product. I recently purchased the 8.5 x 11 Platypus coil and really like it. ALthough, I personally didn't see any increase in depth over the standard 10.5 coil, I like the stability, pinpointing capability, and looks of the Platypus. I haven't used the 15 inch WOT. I own 5 of the Excelerator's; they are hard to beat. My Excelerator arsenal includes the 4.5x7, 12,14,16.5 & 18 inch. If I have a negative; the larger coils are a tad fragile and one must be careful useing them. Sunray's 5 inch has a dedicated following; I don't own one, yet. :)

Good Hunting!
