I dug these two targets recently. They were several inches apart. The long item will attract a magnet. What have I found ?

Some sort of a dip stick. Perhaps some of it is missing.

maybe a broken file or tool that the blade broke off and the wood rotted away, you have the tang end of something?.

Picket I agree with you on the lantern part. If the long object is a dip stick shouldn't the sides be parallel? Just asking 'cause I really don't know.

Hammer like with a pry bar tip??? Someone needed a special toll for a special job and had to make a tool to suit their needs.

I believe this is the butt end of a handle... the wood or leather part is long gone.... the loose piece is the handle cap at the bottom of tool or knife blade... looks like the blade snapped off from the pics... Like an old time bread or carving knife from the 40's.... long lite metal blade... short stubby handle... first time you try to pry anything with it... easily snapped off... Tossed out the back door for a future find... Lol...
