The Ace is made for Florida. It works sooo well there.:detecting:

I got back from my trip to Fl. Monday night. My daughter and the twins are doing great even though they were two months early. There weren't man days I could MD. When I could get away, which one day was for 30 minutes, I did most of my MD'ing at Delaney Park in Orlando. It was a yuppie park near the hospital. One family drove to the park in their electric car ( glorified golf cart).

I found three rings in that park. One was junk and the other two are silver. With all the yuppies, it should be white gold.

I know the big ring is silver and it hits on quarter, but the markings are worn badly.

I found a total of six wheat's. The oldest being 1924.

I MD'ed a grade school and kept coming up with copper nails that hit on cent. I have no idea if they are old or not.

I found lots of trash, buttons, pieces of copper and pull tabs which I didn't show in the total. The place I stayed had a box to put the pull tabs in. How convenient of the Ronald McDonald House to put that box there for me. Also found a broken 925 bracelet, charms, ear ring and the normal assortment of ammo.

Looks like you found more time to MD than you let on. Nice start to 2008!

It looks like you had yourself a bit of fun John. Glad the Ace did well for you. Have you ever thought of upgrading to something that had a ground balance capacity?
Mick Evans.

Those copper nails are pesky, ain't they? Never seen one with that star on the end, though. Most of the ones I have dug had large square heads- they were used in some kind of roofing application, and seem to date from the 1920s. How old yours is, I couldn't say.

Nice Wheat harvest, there- with six Wheaties showing up, I'll bet you just missed that Merc dime or silver Roosie nearby!

Looks like you didn't miss any jewelry, though- wow! I like that little Monaco pin(?).

The fob thingie at bottom left corner is interesting, but I can't make out the design.

The little cat head thingie is cute- my daughter would have fun if I found more stuff like that.

It averaged out to about an hour a day. I was there 10 days,

If I missed that silver coin nearby, how did I find all that silver jewelry?
I think I could have found silver coins if I could have gotten 2 more inches of depth out of the Ace. The wheat's were reading 6" to 8". I swing dragging the coil on the grass so I can go deeper. They always seem to be at the maxed out depth of the Ace. The same goes for me here in WV. I got 223 wheat's last year.

Looks like you did rel nice John. Thanks for the update on the grand daughters. It was nice to hear they, as well as their mother are doing fine. I can't see enough of a mark to help you with that ring. Looks like it is headed to the Rosco pile. You can still buy copper nails with fancy heads on them (stars too). It's hard to tell if they are old or not. If they came from the same area as the wheat's then they must be old. Here is a site that sells fancy (yuppie) nails Fancy dancy yuppie nails

Hey John big buddy,
That's a great collection well done m8.
That looks a really nice park as well, yep I can see you had fun.
We've had 4 -5 hunts so far and no jewelry yet, but we've doubled our monetary value in clad from
last January and we're huntin' tomorrow. Can't wait.

You never know what is under the coil. Last year at this time I had a 1839 cent. That is going to be hard for me to beat. I have gotten four rings this year. Three of them was from last week. There are a lot more rings in Fl. Nothing special though.
I wish you well in breaking all your goals. You are fortunate to have your wife as a MD'ing partner.
I hope to get more wheat's than I got last year. That only comes to 19 a month. So far I have gotten 12 this month. Only 212 wheat's. more to go.

Nice pile of goodies bud. You done good. Interesting nails. Look like decorative nails for something - perhaps upholstery nails.

Bill

Those are nice pennies. I NEVER find any pennies with those dates where I am.
I'm sure there are many more parks there waiting for you to hit.
What size coil were you useing?
Robert R
I use the snipper most of the time. Most areas I hunt are trashy. On the beach or fields I use the stock coil.
