The amazing power of the GT!

I had the day off today so at the break of dawn I went out hunting! Packed both X-Terra 705 and Sov GT in the car and headed for the beach for some Sov GT action. Picked up $6.50 in an hour.... not bad....

Then I had no idea where to go so decided to go back to the spot where I had heaps of luck on a number of hunts (see my videos Whispering Silvers, Silvers and Plovers etc - www.youtube.com/supersnoopy36 ). I had hunted this with the X-Terra with the 5x10 HF coil and the 10.5 DD MF coil to the point that I was sure there's nothing left.

I thought I'd take the Sovereign GT out for its maiden park hunt. It did not take long at all to score a 1942 sixpence at the same spot where I plucked stacks of coins in previous hunts! Hmmmm..... must be just this one coin that i missed with the XTerra - WRONG! 30 cm to the left - another 1942 sixpence! Then a 1910 threepence about two feet away. Hang on - how the heck did the X-Terra miss these? And then a big 1924 Florin (King George V) pops up! Not even real deep!

I swear I gridded this 10sq m. area and had at least two hunts in the end where I found nothing with the X-Terra! Now the whole park felt like it was a 'fresh' park! More silvers came up plus two Queen Victoria pennies! Ohhhh mannnnn!

My oldest QV penny (1876), my first Veiled Head Victoria Penny and my first Edward VII sixpence. The Sovereign GT rules!!!!!

Other interesting finds are the porcelain doll, silver shamrock pin (1943 Birmingham hallmarks), bullet shell inside a bigger bullet shell and a couple of big buckles.

This is the best hunt I've had in a long time. And sorry no I did not video it coz I 'knew' there were no coins left in this park and I did not bring my video camera along. All good.... oh and did I say - the Sovereign GT rules!

Cheers all

Nice! A few things...the multifrequency of the Sovereign is penetrating the ground better. Mine gets deeper then even the FBS technology of my Explorers. I like BBS better on the Sovereign. Second, I've noticed that the GT with even the stock 10" coil seems to love coins on edge better than any other machine I've owned. With the 12x10 this ability is enhanced even further.

Some people find it hard to believe this much can be still there after its been pounded with other detectors, but as i found out too those that spend the time to get to know the Sovereign will impress other plus them self's as to what the Sovereign can see and find. Some will get to know the Sovereign faster than others and depends on how much you use it in actual hunting also will help too, not air testing and test gardens.
Glad to see one more person gets to see what the Sovereign can do when you actually use it in actual hunts in places you and others have thought were cleaned out.

Good luck and sure hope to see many post like from you from this same site as I think there is much more to be found there too.

Rick
