The Church.....

Looking at silverstars question below I have to say this: although the church was not specifically mentioned in the Bible the gathering of believers were. ie a church.

And old saying goes.... a pastor asked a fellow why he didn't come to church. The ole fellow replied that there were too many hypocrites in the church. Well the pastor responded with one more wont hurt.

You know churches are living beings. They act like humans, they get down, they get up, they get hypocritical, they get loving....

BUT REMEMBER THIS: throughout the bible (churches ie gatherings of Christians) did one THING: WORSHIP GOD!

Its not about us....... Its about HIM! We get too wrapped up in what's in it for us. ITS NOT US! ITS HIM! Once we step back and reflect what the Bible is actually telling us we will realize that we are not what we should
be worshipping! Our generation tend to worship ourselves. TAKE THE FOCUS OFF OUR YOURSELF!

Go to church and worship OUR GOD, then let Him move you if needed.

God wants our Worship more than anything. And if you're going to let human indifference's get in the way then you ARE playing into the devils hands.

Saying that find a BIBLE preaching church, if what the pastor is preaching doesn't agree with the Word of God then find somewhere else. BUT if it does and you still don't like the Church maybe God has placed you there for a reason. Pray about it, talk to the pastor, talk to other elders, but don't give up on a church..... Your main mission in that church is WORSHIP! Don't forget it.

Well said Pappy!

Attending a LOCAL church is very important, Bible even says so as you mentioned (the gathering of believers were. ie a church) and we just recently read this in bible class before church services begins.

Amen Brother!

Attending a local church is something man does, God is everywhere God is not just found in church. I'll stay in my local church but for those that don't attend church as some here have said, Jesus preached to the people everywhere, in gardens, tax collectors homes, the streets etc. I love my church as its great fellowship and I have learned a lot from my pastor, its not the only place I worship, I talk to God on my back porch, in my car, almost anywhere he is never far from you.
When Jesus said on this rock I will build my church he referred to a man not a building. So although I do enjoy church if there are those out there who do not attend and still walk in the word take heart for so long as you believe and walk with God he will not leave you at the door of your local church. The above statement is true, church is a gathering of men, so if you are one who does not go to church then gather in your garage and sing and worship, or a homeless shelter and sing and worship, or a nursing home and sing and worship.
As I said before Jesus preached everywhere, its men who get hung up on where you can and can't find God but ALL fall short of the Glory of God not just those who worship outside a building MEN have labeled as important, remember Jesus gave one of the greatest sermons in the bible(just my opinion) on a hillside.
It is not for any of us to decide what is right and what is wrong nor to say what you should and should not do as Pappy said nowhere in the bible does it say attend church or its off to hell with you it speaks of gathering together for worship, its society who has put a label on the gathering place.
I did not intend to turn this in to an argument or give a soapbox to the loudest screamer your opnion while I respect it is just that a man's view, as is mine. Read the last post in my other topic I think that says plenty, the point is made, the horse is dead.
