Back at a farm that I've been to many times before, hunting in 8khz and reactivity 2, TX2, Disc 1, Iron volume 1. It took me half the day to realize that I had the silencer on 2.... Things improved once I lowered it to 0, but that just may have been luck.
Nothing was hayed, the grass was tall, but the light weight Deus and the 9" coil allowed me to get through it with relative ease. I wasn't sacrificing too much depth, a couple of inches...
When he gives it a hay, I'll definitely be back there for more.
When I got home, I checked a few of the targets on my other machine just to see where they'd hit. There was a couple targets that I dug that I probably wouldn't have dug with the Etrac. I am glad I did! There's a lot of beer caps around from the farmer which fall into a certain range on the Etrac. I know for a fact that eventually, I started to walk right past them, knowing that I may be missing the odd good target.
That's another good thing about the Deus.... I won't be missing any of these signals now on the older sites.
1st Rev. War Button! "Royal Provincials", in terrible shape. This came up as 10-14 on the Etrac... in that rusty cap range. It came up as 55 on the Deus.
A Dandy, a flat and a monogrammed two - piece.
I went back the next day....
1906 Fishscale, a couple of thimbles, button and a Gold GIlted Button. That little gold one is another I would have walked over with the Etrac. 01-09 it would have read. On the Deus, it was low 50's.
Also, this one. It hit quite hard at 8". 1820 Trade & Navigation Half Penny Token. It didn't end up cleaning up too well though...
Happy hunting!
