The Etrac and Aluminum Cans

AVXVA

Member
Hello the list--Robert here--just joined.

My Etrac is detecting buried (whole) aluminum cans from about two feet away in coin mode--and of course--they coming
up 12-43 to 12-45 every sticking time so I feel compelled to dig them.

In pinpoint (sizing) mode, aluminum cans appear to be 20" x 20" target, even when the can is 10" deep.

How do I handle whole aluminum cans?

Robert

i raise my coil - if i still get a banging signal from 6" off the ground - i keep walking.

Can slaw is when a can or another metallic object is shredded by a mower, brush hog or another piece of equipment and scattered about. Happens more than one would think and those pesky pieces can give off some really nice hits. Welcome to the forum, you chose your weapon wisely.:minelab::thumbup:

yes agreed.....take in consideration your numbers and size of target......if numbers are the same as above and large target.....keep moving

Yes raise the coil and check the size but....your gonna dig some they just sound to good So go for kinds of cans you never heard of

Aluminum cans that have been shredded and cut up into little peaces by lawn mowers that give a signal that can sound and read just like a dime or quarter. If your in parks your going to find them. It's just part of the game.:ranting:

I can't count how many times cans have deceived me into thinking they were old copper largies. Very annoying! Usually if they are cans, raising the coil above it will help you because usually cans will chime off even with your coil well above the target.
