The Etrac is not the explorer we all have used and loved

Yes, I hunted with a naughty IIB when most people did not know what they are ....I still say the Minelab is The most consistent DEEP seeker!

I also Think "To err is human " hopefully you goes will bury the axe and realize you have more in common than....than you disagree On...while you both still have time!

Aint nunna my bizz...... but I did feel the contention!

AS POSTED I FOUND 3 BARBER DIMES A MERCURY DIME AND SOME OLDER PENNIES WITH IT IN A SMALL PARK THAT I HAVE LOOKED OVER AND OVER WITH EXII AND SE WITH PRO COIL AND SUNRAY 12",15" WOT 9"X12" PLATYPUS AND 8" OEM COILS AND IN BOTH VERY WET AND DRY CONDITIONS.THE LAST TWO TIMES BEFORE ETRAC I HUNTED A TOTAL OF 6 HOURS AND ONLY FOUND ONE INDIAN HEAD.THIS IS AN EREA ABOUT 100' X 225'.

WITH THE ETRAC IN JUST OVER 3 HOURS 4 SILVER ONE INDIAN HEAD AND 2 EARLT WHEATS.THEY WERE ALL ON EDGE OR IN HEAVY TRASH/IRON AND IT LOCATED THEM AND DID IT WITH VERY POSITIVE SOUNDS AND NUMBERS LOCKED ON.THAT IS A GOOD START ON THE ROAD TO PROOF FOR ME AND I AM THE ONE WHO NEEDS THE PROOF TO JUSTIFY THE PURCHASE OF THE ETRAC.ALSO I HUNTED IN FACTORY COIN PROGRAM WHICH AMAZES ME EVEN MORE.I AM SURE WITH THE PROPER TWEEKING IT WILL DO EVEN BETTER.

OTHERS MAY WELL NOT FIND THAT TO BE THE CASE IN THERE OWN EXPERIENCE AND I SAY BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME AS NO ONE HITS A HOME RUN EVERY TIME.I ANY ONE MACHINE COULD REALY DO IT ALL THERE WOULD STILL BE MANY WHO WOULD NOT LIKE IT FOR WHAT EVER REASONS.
I AM SURE I WILL GO TO MOTHER HUNTED OUT SITES AND NOT HAVE NEAR AS GOOD OF SUCESS AS SOME SIGHTS MAY BE TRULY HUNTED OUT AND IF THERE IS NO COINS IN THE GROUND YOUR FINDS WILL BE ZERO NO MATTER WHAT MACHINE YOU USE.

IT ALSO TAKES A LOT OF PRACTICE TO GET THE BEST OUT OF ANY TOP UNIT AND A WEEK OR TWO IS NOT ENOUGH TIME FOR A FINAL JUDGEMENT OF ABILITIES OR LACK THERE OF FOR ME OR ANY OF THE SO CALLED EXPERTS ON THE FORUMS OR ANY WHERE ELSE.
MANY ARE THRILLED WITH THE USB PORT AND I WOULD NOT GIVE AN EXTRA DOLLAR FOR IT MYSELF BUT MANY OF THE OTHER FUNCTIONS I FIND VERY VALUABLE.

From what I have gathered on this forum and reading the E-Trac manual the E-Trac is/has:

Faster than an SE.
Better software than an SE.
More features than an SE.
Better balanced than an SE.
A USB port.
More granularity on the Ferrous/Conduct scales.

But, the biggest, and most important, IMHO, is with similar settings on both machines,

Can the E-Trac find a target that the SE won't even hear??
Can the E-Trac find deeper coins beyond the depth of the SE??
Can the E-Trac find coins hiding in Iron that an SE would miss??

These are big questions, and so far have not been proven on this forum.

One of my hunting buddies took his out for the first time Saturday as he has used the EX II and the SE and did good with them. Now he takes the E-Trac out in factory settings other than lowered the threshold and said the signals sound good or bad and not much iffy but a few, the pinpointing is so good he didn't need his X-1 probe, depth he was getting 12-13 inches and only pulled 3 rusty nails that were questionable. He also did some test in his test garden and found the SE gave a better signal until he realized the gain was maxed on his SE, so he maxed the gain on his E-trac and see he got a better signal and better ID also with the E-Trac. My quick air test on patterns I found when going into the edit to set up a pattern they lock on nice and the pattern is perfect with no straying of the cursor like our older Explorers so you get a very nice pattern is accept OR reject.
Give it a little while so more can use it and understand it and I feel we will see some very positive post, but there will always be those that want a detector to only find good targets deep and no trash and do this without spending the time to know the detector.
