The Future for PI's

Just wondering what is in store both short and long term for the PI type detector. What's Garrett up to with a new type of PI? Is Eric Foster have any new designs for us in the not too distant future? Will a Ferrous/nonferrous PI discriminator be coming within 5 years?

Hi John,
There is a lot of development going on in different aspects of PI by various individuals, particularly reliable discrimination. How soon any new products will be available is hard to say. I've no information on any new Garrett detectors at this stage.
Eric.

Eric,
Charlie on the Garrett forum is testing one out as we speak. He has a couple of recent posts about it.

I ' m an italian hobbyst and I have designed and realized a pulse induction metal detector with a new discrimination almost equal to VLF type.
There are three indipendent channels for ALL METAL and DISCRIMINATION.
One meter for ALL METAL and two meters for DISCRIMINATION.
These characteristics are possible by a particular multi-sampling of the received signal.
The instrument supports any size of coil and the POWER is 12V - 80mA.
