What a great duo the Infinium + Scorpion have become. Today's hunt started with the Infinium working only the water. It managed some junk, some loot and 5 x rings. I did the splash trough dance too! Heck, I even found the Statue Of Liberty having a swim in :canadaflag: waters! Figure that one out?????

Here's today's total from using both machines. The Scorpion did only the land.

The best finds today, my best ring day so far this year on my last lay of summer holidays

And, I found enough rings to give one to each of the Garrett Gals who were again taking up some sun and cheering me on :)

Awesome hunt pal. Yes hockey season is very close. I have been involved with the youth hockey program here for the past 16 yrs. I have coached hockey at all levels and have been a board member for the past 7 years. For the last 10 yrs. all 3 of my boys where in the hockey program playing at different levels. This year I'll only have 2 in the program(Pee wee and Bantams) with the oldest going off to college. I am the coach of the Midget and Pee wee teams. For 6 months I pretty much live at the rink.

Lots of ring found.:thumbup:Good digs on clad.

How about some details about those ring?

Chris

If I lived in Canada and had to deal with your modern coins I certainly would probably have to use my 2500 in True All Metal mode to find modern coins in quantity. That, or use a Scorpion for coinshooting as you suggest I am not a water hunterr. Yet..........

What brings this up is that I was rereading your posts and it brought to mind the Canadian quarter I found this morning. Got a jumpy signal from about zinc cent to quater which imaged as coin size at a depth of 3 inches. I dug a flap and checked it for metal. None. Scooped out a little more dirt and checked it. No metal. Repeat. Repeat. I rechecked the hole and the plug. No metal. Switched to True All Metal Mode and found the signal was in fact in my flap. I poked around and finally found the Canadian Quarter. It was about a 10 minute ordeal. I think it is the third 25 cent piece from Canada that I have found that wasn't part of a coin spill with easier to detect coins included. Don't even get me started about the dimes! I think I've found two.

Chris

Sweet!!!

They are either silver, nickel or nickel plate on steel, depending on the year struck. And they read as silver, or a quarter, or iron, or nickel depending on how much nickel plate has worn off. The Scorpion just loves those coins.......in all forms of decay.

The Infinium got all 5 the rings in the water, and $7.83 all the items shown in the Infinium walter hunt only photo. The swimming areas is quite old too, starting to about the turn of the century. The Scorpion got the rest of the loot, for a quick land hunt, as the rains came tumbling down!

From memory, I think I'm right. Canada made silver coins in 800 fine up to 1966. In 1967 they made coins in .800 and .500 and it is nearly impossible to tell one from another. In 1968 they made coins in either .500 silver or almost pure nickel. You can tell the difference with a magnet. If minted in 1969 your coin is nickel. I don't know when they switched alloys after that. John?

Chris

Surely the guru of Canadian detecting has a gold test kit? Great rings no matter what they're made of.

Chris

I saw a story in the news a while back about Canadians going crazy because a popular hockey show was going to change their theme song. Did that ever happen?
