The good, the bad, the ugly...

Made it out today with a hunting partner, who has only been detecting for less than a year. Had alot of fun and some success, found a SAC Dollar, a clad quarter, two clad dimes, a 1935 Merc, three clad nickels(one a '41), a 1935 Buffalo, ten memorial cents, five wheats and a 1947 Canada Cent, NOW for the good bad and ugly!! First off I found a 1922 Wheat Cent(good), then as you can see it was hit by a lawn mower(bad), and finally to make it worse, as I gave it to my friend to look at, before I noticed he had rubbed the heck out of it as he looked, as you can see he did a good number on it by rubbing(ugly)!!

Nice finds Jack. I know what you mean about coins getting hit with lawn mower. At a club hunt one time at a park I dug up half of a 1935 silver quarter and my persistence paid off because I was determined to find the other half and I finally did. Too bad it got chopped in half, but it was a good story to tell at the club meeting. HH.

It's even worse when the find is in the field that has been plowed countless times. It brings the targets closer to the surface, but at the same time destroys them...

Nice finds there! I hope the 1922 Wheat Penny wasn't a plain. Every post that has a picture with it that I see is getting me fired up to get back at it, but I've got to wait for another month or so until the weather gets warmer and the frost to leave. So everyone keep those detectors swinging and the finds coming and hopefully I will be joining everyone with fantastic posts soon. May you all have the best of luck!!!!
