The humble screw cap turned 122yrs old today.

First patented in England. I wonder if there are screw cap collectors out there? Just think, when you recover a screw cap, you may be unearthing some history.

Thanks Mick, I've done my part in making them more valuable...a conservative estimate is that I've dug about half those produced in the last 122 years, and I've put them all in the bin.

That would actually be a pretty cool find Mike. The only thing I have with a swastika, is a couple of coins I've got around the house somewhere. My father in-law migrated to Germany during the second world war. He spent a couple of years there with his mum. The coins were still in their luggage when they moved to Australia in 1949.
I have to admit though, when I took a screw cap (TAB written on the lid and it was pink) to the detecting shop down in Sydney to try out a couple of detectors and it became a conversation piece.(Memories.)
