The last two hunts...

Jack(IN)

New member
Found close to six dollars in clad, but had some success in both hunts. Haven't had a chance to hunt with Dad much recently, but on Friday we hit a couple spots, he managed a 1917 Merc, a nice older ear ring, 10 wheaties, seven or so dollars in clad, I found my first sterling silver thimble, a silver kids bracelet, three Indians, didn't find any silver coins hunting with Dad, but managed by end of today had a 1920-D Merc, 1908 Barber Dime, 1883 Seated Dime, not pictured(forgot to put in) is a terrible 2 Center, found a token good for 10 cents in meat, a token here from Richmond Fall Festival dated 1909, a 1927 Buffalo Nickel, and 13 wheaties, mostly in the 40's!

Hi Jack, That would have been a spectacular day for me! You were just a Rosie short of a grand slam! Plus a 2 cent coin and those neat tokens - looks like you've found a wonderful place to detect. Is it a park? Thanks.

Erik, actually the places hit was a museum that is in an old house that dates to the 1860's and another yard that dated back to the 1870's. A few years ago I hunted the museum and found a civil War token, a Flying Eagle Cent(185:geek:, and some Indians/Barbers. Still worth a couple more visits!!

Anytime a person can go out and find the finds you found is just a really awesome outing. A 2-Center and a Seated Dime is just a really great feat to have accomplished in an outing. What else can I say but "you did great and I am impressed with your finds"! Wish I could land a few nice older harder to find coins like you have done but who knows, I could do just what you did on my next detecting trip. That is why I love this Hobby so much. You just never know what you are going to find. Great finds and I wish you continued success. Good Luck and HH.

I've noticed you've found alot of older Canadian silver, are you just finding alot this year or something you do every year??

I find a few older Canadian Silver and such but for some reason, this year I have found more than ever. Kind of ticks a person off when you dig a pre-1892 Silver Coin and it turns out to be a Canadian. But I can't complain since it still is OLD SILVER. Just wish I could land a few more Seated but I will take whatever I find. Good Luck and HH and look forward to your next post.
