The Lone Rosie

Got permission to hunt an old abandoned home, probably built in the 1930's. Just as I expected it was filled with trash, I decided to use the 6.5 concentric on my LTD but will take the 5" DD back next time. The 6.5 did well, I found a dozen or so clad, a 55 wheat, a 59 nickel and the lone rosie was a 64. I took my 83 year old dad and 30 year old daughter and they were not use to that much trash so I spent most of my time looking at their targets and digging for my dad, since he can't bend very good. I love them both but I will have to go back without them and take all my coils and see which one is the best in that much trash. The dime really looks good just couldn't get a good focus on it.

Nice dime, let us know how the diff. coils work out.

Thanks for the comments, Jim, the last year I have almost always taken my Dad and am very glad, he just enjoys being out. He told me that when he goes fishing he doesn't put any bait on the hook because he might get a bite and then he would have to mess with the fish, I think the same is true about his metal detecting. Rick, I don't get a chance to get out that much but hopefully next weekend will get back and try the different coils and report back. Thanks Randy

Silver is always a good find.
Keep us posted.
How deep was the dime?

Mark, the dime was about 6 inches and the LTD gave good audio and ID using the 6.5 concentric. There was so much junk that I could only wiggle the 6.5 a couple of inches but it was good from all directions. The 6.5 seems to be good in very tight spots. I was using 3 tones, disc =6 and sens=80 in BP mode.

I love your dad's fishing story. We all need to remember that being outside and away from our challenges for a while is the real reward to treasure hunting. I tell people a bad day of treasure hunting is better than a good day at work. It sounds like you realize the benefit of spending time with those that you love is another part of the big picture. Congrats. I hope many more targets await you.

Don, HH

I used the 6 1/2" a lot on my regular F 75 and continue to do so with my LTD. I like that little coil a lot. It has very nice depth and can get in tight spots and close to fences and playground equipment. HH jim tn
