Our ground finally thawed by mid week and I was able to get three good hunts in with the LTD from Wed. through Fri. Although I recovered 7 silver coins over these three days and a nice bit of clad, most of the 7 silvers could have been hit with about any other detector and the couple that might have been questionable for some were in low spots 3-4' deep under 5" of grass/air gap. In fact, none of the coins were in the so called "deep silver" depths. All were 6" and less. One of the two spots I hunted was new to me and gave me 6 silver dimes. The other silver was a Wash qtr and came along with a pull tab in the same clod from a spot that I hunt quite a bit. All my hunting was done with the 5" DD coil and the more I use this coil, the more impressed I am with it. It really will get right up next to a trash item and alert you that a good target is there. And I mean, "right up." In heavy trash, I am liking it even better then I do the 6 1/2 elliptical. And, I loved the little 6 1/2. I think a lot of us don't realize how many of our coin recoveries, and more importantly, those that are passed over, are coins that are slanted or completly on edge. From what I am learning with the LTD in the bp mode, there are far, far more then we all realize. I am going to be off line for a week or so, unfortunately, not detector swinging on some remote and unkown site. HH jim tn
