The ML Pro coil

I just bought the 11" SE coil and put it on my XS but I have no opinion yet. I will post my opinion when I have one. The general opinion on the forums has been that its almost a must.

I like the coil. I did a bunch of in ground comparisons and both coils (1050 and the Pro) were able to hit the 50 or so targets that I compared. I hunt for deep silver so most of htese targets were in teh 6-9" range.

I do like the new coil it feels lighter and I think it may have a little better separation abilities. Will it be a huge difference for you--probably not but it is a good coil and a little lighter adn a lsight advantage with sepration.

I do not like the coil cover as it will hold water (mornign dew off grass) and dirt and cause some falsing, but I always take my coil covers off anyway.. The open slots in the bottom of the coil will fill up with grass clipping s and so you will have to knock that out but it does not cause any falsing as the dirt does not stay in the openings.

The open coil does like to grab twigs and sticks if you are relic hunting in the woods. Many people have made their own coil covers out of a solid piece of rigid plastic across the entire bottom of the coil.

Good luck

Thanks Ron, I am not sure yet whether I will get one or not.
If I can sell my Wot, I may just give it a try.
Regards,
Steve

I love it. Have it on my SE. Sharper tones, seems to hit deeper stuff better. I'm running the sens higher with less falsing. I've picked up 3 indian cents, a silver dime trifecta - barber, mercury, roosie and a nickel trifecta... 1905, 1925 and a 44P war nickel. I said it was the way I expected the Explorer to work from day one. I'm happy.
