The most satisfying sound...

Howdy,

Went out for a short hour hunt after work tonight. Nice and warm, a bit overcast, very pleasant. I went back near the last spot I left off at around an old tree and continued with the 8x6 SEF sniffing out possibles. I only recovered five targets - a rusty length of wire, a rusty screw, an electrical knockout, and two silver dimes.

I have to say though, that the most satisfying sound (and part) has got to be plunging the X-1 into the hole after popping open a real iffy signal and hearing it sing out solid, but with more depth left. After honing in on a narrow, pitchy signal that has some high squeaks, getting it to repeat when rotating a bit, pinpointing it and seeing the depth meter show some promise, one can't help but get their hopes up. Then there's that moment of truth, that time between opening the plug and getting ready to use the probe when you wonder whether it was the real deal or not. Nothing better than dropping it in and getting that immediate feedback it's a "goodie". (Of course hopefully followed by removing some dirt and seeing that all-smiling silver rim peeking through. Yeah, that part's goodness too).

HH,
