How did David find relief to his agony? Ps. 32:1 - 5; see also 1 John 1:9. How can we find this same thing for ourselves?

Psalm 32:1 - 5 "Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose sin the LORD does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit. When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD." And you forgave the guilt of my sin."

1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."

The guilt produced by unconfessed sins may become extremely painful. The expressions used by David are a clear indication of intense, inward pain. Psalm 32 and other passages in Psalms show the severity of David

As long as we hold onto our sins, even when we've been forgiven of them by our confessions, we will be tormented by satan, for he comes to steal, kill and destroy anything that is good in our lives and if we allow him to do so, he will keep reminding us of what our sins in the past have caused, but we need to let go of them and let God take control, for only He can help us to forgive even ourselves and forget what already has happened that we cannot undo or do over! Praise God from Whom all blessings and relief flow and this is done in the name of Jesus, Whom gave His all for us that we might be saved, freed from all confessed sins, cleansed whole to have everlasting life with joy unspeakable and full of glory forever more! Amen! Ma Betty

Hi Mike (chgo area) We can still let go and let God take the burden off us but we don't have to forget completely so we will remember that we must not do that again....it is holding onto the guilt and unforgiveness of ourselves that hurts and causes great pain! God forgives and forgets, but we can forgive ourselves and still remember what happened, as I have forgiven myself and my ex, but I still remember how sorrowful and hurting it was for me when deeply depressed and going through a horrible divorce after 30 years of marriage! Divorce is a death of a marriage and brings deep, deep grief, as well as a death of a loved one! May God Bless! We just mustn't hang on to not forgiving the sins that are confessed and covered by Jesus' precious shed blood! Amen! Ma Betty
