The old hotel property I was at the other day...

This a picture of the hotel back in 1915. Motorcycles sure were different then eh?

There isn't much remaining of the building. There are some cement spots with wood posts still in them (part of the front porch foundation I believe), a cement stairs going down the hill but almost hidden by nature, markers for property line along the north west edge of the property and a few other remaining things.

In this picture you can imagine the front porch on the left side and then the hotel itself was nestled at the edge of the embankment and extend back - maybe on pilings over the lower area to the right.

There were lots of metal signals and I tried my best to decipher what the Explorer was saying. I didn't do too well or there was just way too much trash and not enough experience yet to do this area justice.

I did find an ashtray - maybe one that sat on the railing of the porch for smokers??? I detected the flat area first then went down hill to the lake area where there was sand. Found the coins, the key and the good looking car down below in that sandy area....along with beer cans buried about a foot down.

Well here is everything I brought home from there.

A lot of trash but only 1 dime and 2 pennies, a key for a Post Office box, a small car on the right made in China, a small vehicle on the left which was made in England by Lesney and says it is a "Volkswagen Caravette". Never heard of a Caravette. Found a triangular knob - maybe off an old stove, 2 solid small cylindrical items, and a washer. I did leave the wiring I found (about 10 feet of it) behind but folded it up so it stood straight up so anyone cutting grass can see it. (Didn't have wire cutters with me or I'd have removed it.)

Well thats all I got except for that nasty sunburn.
I drove by today and the township has put in 2 picnic tables and a portapotty. So they are working on turning it into a park for the township.

That is half the fun! :)
