The Omega & 10 Inch DD Coil Strike Again :teknetics:

Doing a little research and scouting finally paid off. I just knew the area was ripe for silver coins. Yesterday was my first day at the new site and I found 6 wheat pennies (1941, 1944, 1941,1944, 1952, 1944 ). I was convinced that I was on the right track. Today I was about 30 yards from where I found the wheat pennies yesterday when I got a high tone and a VDI reading of 84/85. That high pitched tone and numbers put a smile on my face.:) I dug down around 5 inches out pops a 1944 Mercury Dime. No more silver for me today, but I did manage to find another wheat penny (1957) and some more clad and copper coins.

I'm betting that there's plenty of silver at this new location for me to find. I just need to zero in on the walk patterns.

I was able to run the Omega with its highest sensitivity setting without much chatter if I kept the discrimination setting around 40. The G/B was 60 and I was using 3 tones.

The Omega and the 10 inch DD coil are a perfect match. I hate the long coil cable though.

Have you tryed any of the larger coils on your omega.11" DD or 13" Ultimate. Is your 10" DD a better coil than the 10" concentric that come standard on the omega.I want to add one more coil to the group that I am using now. Great finds. Thank you for your time.

It's nice to see your getting good results in your area...

I haven't tried the 13 inch Ultimate coil yet. The 11 inch DD coil works great, but I like the 10 inch DD coil better. The Omega's audio response is louder on silver coins using the 10 inch DD coil than with the 11 inch DD coil for some reason. I know it sure likes silver dimes. The 10 inch concentric coil is OK and works great in heavy concentrations of pry-caps, but I prefer the 10 inch DD coil best of all, but I hate the long cable that comes with it. Teknetics won't shorten it for you, even for a fee.
