The Omega performs Laser like surgery.

Saddled up this morning and decided to give the demolished housing site a shot with the Omega and 5" coil. I hadn't hunted the site much this year as it had grown rather sparse with its yielding the last few times I hunted on it. In between the times I hunt the spot I tend to forget just how trashy it is. It is about as trash laden as any site I have ever hunted. Ole English seemed to be the brew of choice for the Navy boys. Anyway, just inching my way along the edges of driveways and foundations listening for high tone zips, the Omega and 5" coil with its laser like precision got me 3 silvers, 5 wheat cents, a foreign coin with an Emperors head on one side, (this has yet to be determined what it is) a few clad coins and some Memorial cents, keys and a broken spoon. 4" was about the deepest, but several of the coins were on edge. I was running 99 sen, 1 disc., d3 tones and a gb of 57. Even near power line and switching to frequency 3 the Omega ran stable. Those are my 91, 92 and 93 silver coins for the year. HH jim tn

LOL.........Ole English........get's ya hammered.............leaves one with a horrible hang over. Now, on to your silver. Excellent job. You will easily surpass your century goal on the silver. Love to read your progress. Man with a Mission:)

Great going Jim.:beers:

Now that school is back in session, I might be seeing you around that part of town during the week and work the school yards on the weekends.

That site is really trashy and the 5 inch coil should be the coil of choice.

Thanks guys! Nicknames, ya, my wife has a couple for me, not good ones, and in her eyes, I live up to them frequently. LOL Got to the site this early this morning, strapped gear on, hadn't even turned on the detector yet when I heard and felt the first rain drops. Sat in my vehicle for a few minutes and it continued to come down and looked like area was socked in for a while. Headed back home and drove in rain all the way. We need it, but only suppose to last into mid morning. A little later I'll see if I can beat tabman to a spot. Take care all, and thanks again. HH jim tn

Great finds, the 5" coil is the best thing going for trashy homesteads....

Jim those are some nice finds. I just happened to come by to look for Omega posts. Thinking of another detector. Geeze is this new detector thing ever going to stop??? Great detecting Jim.. Happy Trails to you......Z

Thanks z and cadman. z, the Omega is great for coins hunting. Sure, there are a few trash items that hit in the coin ranges, but it has the most accurate id of any detector I have ever owned and with its compliment of coil availability, there is little in its price range that can match it...IMHO. Jim take your time. I won't be able to get out that way until around Friday. I'm taking my cat to the vet today and I'm getting my teeth cleaned tomorrow. Besides, that place couldn't be hunted out in 50 years if you hunted it hard everyday. There's a lot of area to cover and it's heavily loaded with trash.

tabman, i've been told by more then a couple of the older club members that the site was hunted out back in the late 80's and early 90's. They stated that they used to walk off the site with pockets full of silver and clad. I believe them, and you are also right that "that place couldn't be hunted out in 50 years if you hunted it hard everyday," as I did hunt it an average of 4 times a week from 06-10 and recovered over 450 silvers from it myself....and I know of several others that were hunting it over that time period, too. That front section, though, is not the only spots around the base that produce. But, none have yielded silver coins for me as well as that housing area did and occasionally still does. Put the small coil on and go at it. I'm sure there are a couple of goodies still left that are lurking under some of the copper pipe pieces, Ole English bottle caps, pull tabs, plumbing pieces and other junk items. :teknetics: HH jim tn
