I went back to the same place that has been giving me fits with EMI. I decided to use the Omega/8 inch coil combination today. I set the discrimination on 40, used 3 tones, full sensitivity, with a ground balance of 65. There was hardly any EMI chatter, except when I laid the detector down to dig. I decided to go back over an area that I had previously detected, except grid it in another direction. I ended up finding a couple of Mercury Dimes (1937 & 1943), and a 5 Wheat Pennies (1935, 1942, 1949, 1944, and 1942). Most of the coins were around 4 inches deep. One of the Mercury Dimes was around 6 inches deep. Both dimes gave a bouncy 81 to 91 VDI number reading. The faint tones that I heard on the silver dimes were small and crisp high tones. I didn't any VDI numbers to tell me to dig.
Today was a glorious beautiful day. The weather was perfect.
