[attachment 344260 ThePeoplesStoreToken2.jpg][attachment 344259 ThePeoplesStoreToken1.jpg] Found this today while hunting an old site, anyone know some of the history behind this? I did find The Peoples Store in Wikipedia, says the company was founded in 1888 in Tacoma Washington and shut down in 1984 by it's parent company, Mercantile Stores. Was there any of these chain stores in Kansas?

There are some similar tokens posted on Tokencatalog.com site with different denominations from Cleburne, Kansas. Hope this helps.

You are welcome timwied. I am an avid member on that site, may I have your permission to copy your pictures (if allowed on this findmall site) so I can upload them to Tokencatalog? Lots of good folks in there, they may be able to positively attribute your token to Cleburne. Like many smaller denomination tokens of any kind some of them were octagon vs. round. Your token needs a home, nicely dug!
